    "Top Swap"

Ok, so despite all the hardships people have said about this swap i'm going to give it a shot. i found a great deal for the whole l67 motor from a wrecked GTP so i'm going to follow through on this project. I also plan on taking lots of pictures and hopefully if im successful make a guide on how to do the swap.
Im getting the motor on Sunday so once i get it i am 100% going to follow through with the swap.

it seams pretty straight forward but im sure once i get the motor ill think of alot more problems that im going to run into

i plan on doing something like this to the SC to make it fit... i know its hard

dude that'd be sick if you think you can do it. It would probably be easier to turbo it but it's always cool to fight the power and be different.

I would suggest you get a hold of Merlin and talk to him before you jump into this. He can give you some good tips and info, a lot more than just what a thread says or shows. While it doesn't look like a lot of big work, there are a lot of little things that need to be addressed and changed. You'll also need some form of tuning to get the car running with the m90 and your stock PCM.

Edit: Looking through that list, I don't believe the L67 TB will work. Merlin used an LT1 TB on his setup. You'll also need to reroute the heater hoses if you plan on routing the intake out on the passenger side. An additional FYI... the '97 L67 is different from the 98-03 motors. Vacuum lines and coolant ports differed between those years and are not interchangeable.

If you got the whole motor then why not just swap the motor and injectors and purchase a centrifugal kit. It would probably be alot easier. I personally wish that a comany make a LIM adapter to make the GTP supercharger work with RWD 3800s. Good luch with the project!

in a nutshell this is my plan...

            using my block/ pistons etc,
i want to swap to heads from the l67, LIM l67, SC (Upper intake)
from what i have researched these parts should work with my 97 firebird 3.8l correct? (after i mod the SC)

I dont know why you would want to keep your L36 pistons as opposed to using the L67 pistons which are lower compression and overall better for boost

actually the gp guys are using the l36 bottom ends in there builds lately. Even zzp used a l36 bottom end in their shop car that went 9s

cause that u get the higher compression w/ boost. that way its not dog w/ the boost

Really? Thats the first I've heard of that.

I'd prefer lower compression to run higher amounts of boost, but since the OP is using an M90 its probably too weak to much more than 10-11 psi so I guess higher compression would be better for lack of more available boost.

Scrap it and get a turbo kit ;) (JK)

Are you doing a cam swap too? You may as well if the motor is pulled out and accessible (IMO).

Im interested to see how this works out. Good luck!
