I am the FondleMonster- and i has a turbo(build thread)
Re: I am the FondleMonster- and i has a turbo(build thread)
Thanks...Do you have any reservations whatsoever putting a turbo on what some might consider, a "worn" engine? Is the rest of the drivetrain original as well?
I ask because I was under the impression that you don't want a substantial boost in power on a tired drive train and start breaking things.
Anyone else who has added a turbo on an older stock motor want to share? If this is not considered a problem then I would think my 82,xxx car would be good to go for this mod.
Fondle, what you have invested so far? It appears to be a mix of new and used, right? Lastly, what would you say is your level of mechanical aptitude? Is this a job that an average wrencher can tackle?
The most I have done is a head gasket change (both sides) on my suburban.
Re: I am the FondleMonster- and i has a turbo(build thread)
well i have never touched an engine before, only thing a have done is basic bolt ons, so i wouldnt consider my self a mechanic, im just a 19year old college kid whos bored enough to try it
i am a littler nervous about how the motor will hold, but its a chevy so i have some faith lol
anyway, some more porn!
turbo is in!
right now im welding all the pipes up to seal them because before i had just tacked them, im also going to make a whole for the wastegate
Re: I am the FondleMonster- and i has a turbo(build thread)
I didn't think it would fit down in there but it looks like it did, congrats. I'm going to try to mount mine further up by the ALT. but it is smaller then the MP70.

Oil drain and hitting stuff would be my concern, even with oval piping it would scrape on places I drive here. Even with my car lifted and getting bigger tires.
