Pics of -10 return line

Thought I would show some pics of the -10an oil return line I just drilled and used washers and GM black sealant to seal everything up. Didn't want to weld it since it was easier to use sealant and nuts, washers and sealant. Also was great to have the pan off becuase I had to trim down the oil gasket valley, so the inside of the -10an return bolt didn't hit the plastic. Also modified the oil gasket so when we installed the new oil pickup the pan could go almost straight in instead of pulling it down and trying to get it at a certian angle. Also threw in some QA-1 shots of the rear ones and a close up of one of the fronts installed.

Thanks, only base close is Luke Air Force Base though, That would be cool. I (well me and Meatyshells )LOL should have it done in a few weeks, he's going to help me get the turbo pipes on and go from there. I have a spare set of heads going to be redone with manley valves also going to buy a L26 engine here soon to start building it up.

Thanks, thats why I take alittle while to do my stuff I like to plan it for function and looks. I thought if I'm doing a setup why not make it look good while doing it so I can pop my hood and they will see polished, billet and alm. parts.

It looks nice Steve. Did you have to remove the oil pan? Or did you just drill it there and catch the debri with a magnet and then empty the oil?

I had a new oil pan and drilled out the hole for it, put the gasket in there which is like a big plastic valley so oil doesn't slosh around and had to cut some of the plastic out so the -10 an fitting would fit nice( if I did it with the pan on there the return plug wouldn't work unless I welded it on which I didn't want). I used a big washer on both sides and a big nut with lock tight and GM black sealer on both sides and let it sit for a couple of days. Meatyshells took the old pan off and when putting the new one on I cut the plastic for the oil pickup(which he installed a new oil pickup I had) So the pan could be installed just about straight up. Having a Tubular K member and front end makes up for alot of room and weight loss. I thought about just drilling and using JB weld , but I wanted it to look good since I plan on having it along time, hell I've already have had the car over 14 years(original owner), so I like to plan ahead and do the work the best I can. where is it running right now since there isnt a turbo draining any oil?, i hope dirt doesnt accidentally get in the open and and get mixed in your oil

Cover what cover? I don't need no stinking cover LOL J/K I am missing 25% of my brain.LOL Just used the plastic covers that came with the hoses to protect the threads, I used blue thread locker at the oil pan connection even though it was a AN connection , I didn't want vibration to have it come loose. I bought enough line so it is all the way up to the brake booster, so I will have to take a 18" line out or 2 when the turbo goes in so I don't have alot of slack. Also don't have to worry about oil coming out since its not pressurized and above the pan gasket.

not knocking ya but having Nuts in your oil pan is not a good thing. Granted ya said its locktited on there.

The back nut is not coming off, by not welding I meant around the -10 an adapter, used a washer a locktite on the outside and a washer with loctite on a nut with the threads a spot welded a thread on the inside of the nut, I used a spare plunbing 1/2" open end nut my Dad had lying around, just one apot since I didn't want a mess, I just then used the gasket sealer and the blue loctite on the outside which you can see in the pic I think. I forot about that since I installed it and let it sit for a couple of days for the sealant and loctite to dry. So I think I'm pretty safe plus I think the nut would have to fly pretty far and get pass the plastic valley to do any harm to anything, but its good advice for anyone doing theirs if they don't weld it in and use a washer and nut weld the nut thread so it won't back off. I did that on my made in bolt in subframe connectors on the nuts towards the front of the car for safety, until I welded up everything.
