  • Brian's Turbo Build (Lots of Pics)

Well as the title states Im currently in the middle of a very extensive build. Im building a motor for my 99 3.8l Camaro. I started back in October. Progress is slow, but Im a full time student so its taking a while. I hope to have it done for fall of 2011. I am aiming for about 600hp. Maybe spray a 100shot....not sure about that.
    Whats done:
    Ported UIM/LIM
    Custom Harland Sharp 1.8 Rockers
    8.5:1 GTP pistons and rods
    Block
    Heads
    Crankshaft and bearings
    Ring Set

    Needed:
    Cam
    Turbo Setup
    Oil Pan
    Intake/Exhaust Valves
    Manley #150 Spings
    Transmission
So so much more, theres a lot to list

    And the pics

    And my baby

Feel free to make any recommendations you want to.

Thanks, ive been taking a ton of pictures as I go. Every paycheck is going into the motor. I am attempting to starting powdercoating on the side to try and make some money for the build. so if anyone needs powdercoating I could do it for ya :) (once I get the hang of it of course), just pm me.

Wow there's no mistaking those rockers for anything else, lol! Except the back two. Looks good man! I'm assuming you're going with a FFH turbo setup. Are you going to fab your own headers?

Ill be custom building them myself with 2 front gtp exhaust manifolds. They will look similar to this one, little different though

Looks good, make sure you go with a double roller with the 150LB springs, also why not go with some JE forged pistons with a higher compression and L32 rods so you can run lower boost and still get more power out of it.

96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

Keep taking pictures and you'll have a very popular thread. I especially love seeing all these different turbo setups. They're all essentially the same but no setup is identical to another.

Your built reminds me so much of Stefan's Project Virus. And your turbo set up reminds me of Shane's.

Keep it up. I'll be in anticipation for this.

Ya i plan on either a JP or a rollmaster. I was wanting the low compression because im afraid of blowing a head gasket. I would hate to hit high boost and destroy the gasket.

Agreed. The turbo setup is where its gonna be a nightmare deciding how to route it lol.

At least with FFH you only have to worry about the downpipe. If you're going with a tubular K member you could always get some oval pipes for a nice under K downpipe. I have a tube K with a complete under K setup without oval pipes and I have only bottomed out once on a ridiculous speed bump.

Ive been thinking a little, havent put too much thought into it yet, but not sure i want an under K setup seems like some people have great luck with it others dont have any luck with the clearance issues.

                              lmao, like fondle..
There is room for the pipes if you route them correctly. I'm pretty sure if you go that way you'll be able to do it since you appear to know a few things. Definitely more than me when it comes to deeper engine stuff.
lmao, I feel like I'm trying to convince you to do an under K setup, and I don't want to. I'm just saying it's do-able if done correctly. But like I said before, i love seeing something different.
