That looks outstanding, your doing a stroker kit correct since you ditch the turbo route? I had to wait for mine instead i doing my mods last Fri. it will b this Fri. since I would have no vehicle, I might buy a 2001 reg. cab chevy 2500 with tool box in back 180,000 miles for $3500-$3700 will see though , I want a back up vehicle. These were work truck so they were maintianed every 3,000 miles and they look great. Plus the 6.0 engine is 300HP and 340 TQ stock. I figure with some headers ,exhaust, plugs , wires, intake and Hptuners I should get it up to 350HP and over 400 TQ. Then a cam and a total rebuild when it goes into the Camaro at some point and I want 450 WHP and 500 TQ. Again very nice, mine won't look as pretty but will put doen ome turbo power. LOL

Why did you go to heavier rods ???

Why did you only go to 10.5:1 on an N/A build? I would have gone 12:1 for sure especially considering how low these motors can spin safely. What is your final compression ratio? I'm sure you're running milled heads as well?

Re: Brian's Turbo Build (Lots of Pics)

I wanted rods stronger than the l36. My final compression is just over 10.5 I didnt want to go to high, because I haven't seen anyone run higher than stock compression (Yes there is probably someone who has.)

L36 rods can handle way more power than what you'll make N/A though. Although you'll probably be going higher into the RPM...

Fair enough, you're not sure how it'll react to the compression, but it's not enough IMO. At least it's still low enough you can boost it

Why didn't you go with L32 rods their semi forged, thats whats been in mine for 6-7 years with 9:5.1 Diamond forged pistons. I really want JE 9:9.1 forged pistons, I didn't know Wesico was forged pistons, I thought they were reg. Hyper. pistons.

The L32 rods are only powdered metal. They are more consistent than L67 but not stronger.

Edit: I guess they are hot Forged, but L67 rods probably are as well.

Alot of people don't even look at L67 rods anymore since GM has gone with the L32 rods and like said they are stronger, and if you run Diamond pistons you can't use stock rods so you have to go with used L67's or stronger L32's. L32's are the most common now and have proven themselves. The L67 rods were great also and I think noone had any problems with them, so if people have L67 rods they don't have to worry. When my motor was being built they had just switch the part #'s on them and I was lucky enough to get the L32 rods, the mechanic made sure they would fit and run properly since he had a L67 rod to compare it to. Becuase people back then were saying at first they had to be machined down in certain places to work right and not rub. It was a myth. My mechanic was a high speed race car mechanic on the weekends so he knew his stuff. Hes the one that will be doing my other engine mods.

Didn't read far back enough to understand how you came to this post but, I don't blame you. My pacesetters are leaking where the primaries come together. Both of them.
