a guy by the name of rick i beleive would be in charge of building the engine. he's apparently the 3rd best engine builder in the country.
He's assisted in breaking world records dealing with f bodys. (ls2 producing 2600hp street legal.) ran 6.40's
And worked on the only lt1 in the world to have a ls based ignition system. Produced 800 wrhp. with 5 lbs of boost.
He told me that with his team of experts. I could run 10.30's with all the listed items above.
Must be a good friend to give you that much money, but I wouldn't bore the engine .30 over or try to get a lightwieght crank if the even make them, stock cranks have proven themselves to low 11's, you'll need a suspension , tranny and rearend if going over 400 WRHP. 15 LBS would probably be around 380-400 WRHP, might as well turbo the car for better HP gains if looking into getting the most power. This will probably get moved to the FI or advanced section. With labor and not doing some or all yourself might be more than 15,000.
08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine
I sure hope you run 9s if you are going to drop 15k on the engine alone! That is ridiculous. Then you will have another 5-10k on the drivetrain/suspension/trans if you plan on actually hooking up.
But yea I see some issues already in your build that I would worry about. Our stock crank has gone 8s already. No need for that. Don't bore the engine out that much. 15grand on the engine and only a mild cam? really? Why the heck would you do a mild cam if you are supposedly going all out on the rest? Only porting the lower intake? Why not port the upper to match?
This is just a pipe dream and nothing that will actually happen so I will stop now. BTW, there is no way to claim anyone is the 3rd best engine builder in the country, lol. Everyone builds engines and there is always someone else that will be better or faster. All depends on how deep your pockets are

Stock cranks have proven themselves into the 8's reliably.
Buy a turbo kit, 3800 isn't big enough for a CSC set up.
To be honest with you, you can spend 15k on your engine, and have no way to keep the wheels planted well enough to effectively do anything. Spread the money around the car.
Mild cam? No.
DC-1....might as well throw a turbo on there
There are no lightweight cranks for these engines, only stroker kits.
You don't want to go .030 over the first time. .020 would be better.

I thought I remember reading .020 over was still too much for these cars as the block has too thin a material to be boring it out...you risk cracking. I heard the max you should really be going is 0.010 and thats really only if need to because of damage...
im the greatest engine builder..... in my own world lol but yea i have to agree turbo and a big cam 15k is alot to spend on a motor thats alot of play room hell with that much i could make a 3.8 have 400 rwhp and handle like its on rails. with a nice paint job on the side. but good luck hope it works out that will be very cool if it does
OK, to clarify. the light weight crank is available He said through a company called enginetics or something like that. its 1200 dollars.
The tranny would be a 4l60e with a trans go shift kit and corvette servoes along with a suburban hd sunshell and billet input shafts. 4 grand
He told me they have a method of hardening the block. (making it stronger) for the 30 bore. 500 bucks
dc1 pro charger because its the most reliable horsepower. with zero lag. and instant torque off line. 6 grand
the heads would be sent to a guy in Arizona who hand ports the heads. 3 grand.
the rear end will be derived from a corvette rear end out of a z06. he told me with some fabrication it can be done.
he told me with this setup. 15lbs of boost. can be a 10 second car.
You're new here, and I welcome you to the site, but this guy you're talking about building your engine, is completely and utterly full of ****.
yes, you can harden the block. Its a concrete mixture for sinking into the water jacket of the block itself. Another option is sleeving the engine. But sending heads to AZ for hand porting is pointless, there are companies out there now that have heads for cheaper, that are going to give you the maximum amount of airflow possible.
And I have never heard of this Enginetics company that makes lightweight cranks for a 3.8l.

No, not with that setup. $3000 for heads, might as well get ALM. heads from ZZP for $2000, I think the guy doesn't know 3800's or never has built one before. I would like to see LINX run his car to see what times he runs. Or teasse with the twin turbo's with running into no problems. Also well see if N20Eqip beats his 11.1 time this year with his new setup.

So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
