    Re: Budget Turbo Build.

Best way to go turbo, everything else will follow. Get a turbo kit that brings everything do not,I repeat do not buy turbo by it self.Turbo kit with coast u about 1500 with everyhing. I know because I have one and get ready to install. Now you must keep in mind must change torque converter to 3,000 stall.

If you need new exhaust go for it but do not worry about muffler because if you put turbo on rear muffler will not matter. But flowmaster bang for your buc.

I agree the newer turbos majority do not bring blowoffvalve. If you like the way they sound and want to give the other driver head ups about what u have under ur hood. Sure waste the money.

          Re: Budget Turbo Build.

What just happened? A ton of misinformation just got puked all over this page.. I bought a turbo by itself.. fabbed up some pipes myself.. installed it myself.. I never changed from the stock stall either. But that's wrong?

If you're trying to say that a turbo does not need a blow off valve.. Just stop now. I see you don't have a lot of posts here, which i'm assuming is apart of the problem. Do some searches, look around. Research and then maybe in a year you can try to give some advice. Otherwise what you're telling me is that my car should not be functioning right now. And it most definitely is.

                      Re: Budget Turbo Build.

My turbo kit was all bought seperate check out my Cardomainsite for list of parts about $4000-4500 with all the extras I bought could of kept it at $3000 or less even with the $1600 watercooled GT35R turbo , too many, pipes are done and exhaust is done just unbolt a V band and connect turbo side and reconnect V-band. All I need is the DP welded up and the wastegate welded back to the exhaust. I might just hook it up and then spot weld the DP exhaust and have the wastegate then connected to the exhaust, in fact I think I will do that. I need Meatyshells to come over.

                        Re: Budget Turbo Build.

I've come to a dead halt in my turbo research. As I understand things, the waste-gate is vacuum operated. Will I not loose considerable vacuum if I have the turbo all the way at the back of the car? Is there a way around this? Would a manually operated waste gate like the old days work fine with a new turbo design? I did most of my turbo research in the early 80's (for my 72' Beetle). A lot has changed since then Lol.

                          Re: Budget Turbo Build.

I dont think that the vacuum will change across distance as long as there are no leaks.

                            Re: Budget Turbo Build.

Only thing that will change is DA, the turbo and injectors will run leaner and you'll see less boost the higher the DA, so you would have to watch your wideband esp. if your going up hills and going WOT becuase you will be leaner also KR, I'm at 1200 DA and my brother who is 250 miles away is at 5700 DA so even with my cam when I drove up there I watched my A/F so it wouldn't lean out too bad which it didn't since I run mine rich anyways. If I was turboed it would take an extra 2-3 lbs of boost to run at 5700 DA compared to 1200 DA since the air is so dense.
