  • Starting turbo build

So I started taking my Y pipe off and matched up my turbo Y pipe and it is off by a little. Kinda pissed me off but I'm going to cut the Y at one end and see if I can get it to bend(working with 16 GA. steel is going to suck. LOL Just letting you guys know when I started my build.

Also My Aerforce gauges went out on me the day before , I was installing the 2nd gauge and it took out both gauges. I emailed Aerforce and they will only cover the 1 newer gauge ( what a crappy company , not owning up to their products , I belive it was the double harness I got from them that fired both gauges since on 96' vehicles you have to plug the OBDII port in everytime since the port won't suppy power unless its pluged in).

Will do, I removed the front sway and the pipping fits better so I think I might be able to get it to fit. I mocked up the GT35R and there is plrnty of room in the engine bay. I'm msking support brsckets and welding in O2 bungs for the rear exhaust and wifebeand if I decide not to run it in the DP. Aerforce still not ansering my emails reallly ,really pissed me off now, reported them to BBB and will file a small claims court on Monday and have them served for court(I'm not messing arounf with them , as much as I have spent with them and there dual cable takes out noth scanners theirs something wrong with this picture). Heres some pics , I do about 1-2 hours and then my back is done for the day. It will eventually go together in time. I'm getting alot better flux welding so I'm doing the welding myself for now.

I don't think it will be too much restriction if any , its still 3" diameter pipe. But I have some 3" oval mandrel bent pipe ready. LOL

                    Re: Starting turbo build

So im just hearing about this under the k member turbo. On a stock car will their be enough clearence or do you need to notch the k member. And if so doesnt that mess up the suspension. Im eventually doing a turbo kit and this way sounds interesting and the easiest let me know thank you.

I have a 180 degree oval , so it can be cut like a S pipe if need be. If I can hit 10-12 PSI then I'll be alright with the funky right angle pipe. LOL

I have no doubt that it will build boost, I'd be concerned with how quickly it did so.

With the GT35R with a .63 A/R GT wheel, it should build quick.

                            Re: Starting turbo build

I got my Y pipe bolts in and SCE copper 3 bolt gaskets in didn't have to modify the Y pipe thank god. Started her up and let it run a little bit checked for leaks found none. The high heat paint was smoking though, LOL. Rev'ed it alittle but seems like it flows alot of air but will see when its all together. Just need to make my mounting brackets and then I can start putting on the turbo , lines, make DP to exhaust and run the intercooler pipping. Also run methanol kit and EGT temp gauge. Sounds mean with the exhaust coming up front. LOL
