I wouldnt worry about it, whatever PSI youre running you won't notice, when you have the time and budget maybe consider it. I want to get a tig welder soon and start some stainless fabricating.
Agreed do what u can now..you will notice a diff in performance and I'm sure you'll b happy
tapped the pan today and welded it up. checked the headers for leaks fixed a few. have you guys used rtv on your oil pan gaskets? is there any way to really test the pan for for leaks, without the motor for running?

i neeed some help. what vehicle can i get a oil filter adapter off of to keep my a/c. i cannot find specific information. i know its a 3.8 fwd vehicle. but there are 4 different oil filter adapters and i need to know which to ask for at the boneyards here... i went to a big you pull it junkyard today. and they only sell parts off of bad motors. i grabbed one off of a 93 buick 3.8 but it wasn't it.
also. just to vent... i was trying to put on my oil pan today...and after it falling and bruising my forehead i got it up there to realize that my oil return fitting which is put directly above my low oil level sensor is hitting the brace from the motor to the transmission. i think i'm going to just remove the brace.

Personally i would not remove it. Those braces are there for a reason. Think about it, if it wasnt needed GM would have never put it on there. As it costs money for them to produce and install them. If that werent the case they would not have spent the money on it.
well i already removed it, and plan on keeping it that way. the only time i can really see it being useful is if the tranny is just hanging from the motor. which doesn't really happen. bolted in and resting on the tranny crossmember...i think it'll be fine. but maybe it supports the transmission more than i think it does. i'm not opposed to modifying the bracket... i would really like to know, the danger of removing them and their actual purpose, i can't find anything on the interweb bout them.
how close does the oil pickup tube sit to the bottom of the pan? it seems like min is about an 1/8 of an inch from the bottom because when i was checking clearance of my oil return. the pan would hit the pickup before touching the block.

The trans crossmember is at the tail of the trans and does not support it in the middle , the motor mounts are a little bit foreward of the middle of the block. Those mounts are there to keep the motor and trans from sagging in the middle/bottem. Besides those brackets the motor and trans only have 4-5 bolts attached throught the top of the bell housing. Those brackets also help to makes sure the motor and trans are square to each other. You can do as you see fit but I recommend against it.
they are mounted to each other so they can't possibly keep themselves from sagging. and as far as them being square as long as the bolts are tightened i don't see how it would ever not be square. i will agree that there isn't anything supporting the motor and trans where they meet. but those brackets aren't supporting them either. i'm not really wanting to argue and i want information your points just don't seem valid.
after some thought i could see them being there to relieve the bellhousing bolts when the motor is torqueing side to side. especially in a hard shift. so, i'm giong to see what i can do as far as modifying the bracket.
