  • GTP Motor.

So today I got a call from a buddy of mine telling me he has a friend that has a GTP motor for sale, hes going to get me a price and a few other details.
I can probably pick it up for a decent price. So if I do pick this up, what all do I have to do to swap it into my Camaro? I know I need to modify the SC. I have been researching and all I find is info on doing a top swap, I want to swap the entire motor into my car.
Do I need a wiring harness from an L67 car?
Do I need to do anything to the PCM?
    Will my T-5 work?
Will I have good HP gains with cam and P&P heads?

If anyone has any ACTUAL answers or helpful info, thank you.
For those of you that want to bash, please dont even reply.

    Re: GTP Motor.

I believe you DO need the wiring harness of an L67 Car. The fuel injectors are in the heads instead of the intake in these motors.

You'll need an L67 PCM as well I BELIEVE but don't quote me for truth on this.

Technically the transmission will bolt up, but Im not sure if the L67 PCM is going to like it.

I'd imagine you'll pick up anywere between 35 and 50 HP putting you at around 300 - 310 HP with cam and P&P heads.

Your going to have to re route the intake system from the firewall back towards the bumper otherwise it won't fit.

No dude, don't listen to them. It bolts right in. Trust me. No mods needed. It's a super top secret, but you've been here a while, so I think I can trust you with that info.

          Re: GTP Motor.

You will just need to cut a hole in the firewall and keep your windows down all the time.

But the whine will be intense!

Lol, thanks guys, some of you more then others haha.

Anyway, I'm picking up the motor for 100 bucks cause it's a friend of a friend and he just wants the motor out of his garage, going to do a crazy amount of research and I'm going to tackle this project and I'll be starting a build thread as soon as I begin.

Ya know, I have thought a lot about just that. I am certainly no expert, so I am probably dreaming.
It seems that you could modify the firewall to make an L67 fit. You would need to
remove/mod the dash and cut a big a$$ hole (no pun intended), or a nitch in the firewall for the TB and
a custom made downspout. You would lose room for your radio and a/c, I think.
Then weld in some thick sheet metal for a new firewall to fit around it. Then have a shop
(mabey an exhaust shop) fit some mendral bent tubes down and around the K member
and go back up front with it. I wouldn't go to the rear if it can be avoided.
With an L67, you wouldn't have to worry about placing an intercooler, so that much easier.

Probably wouldn't want to do anythig but drag race with it after gutting the dash
and a/c and whatever else. Wouldn't be a street car.

I think you would be surprised how much room is behind the dash. Regardless of that fact, the best way is to trim the blower and reroute from there. Also, with any sort of forced induction, you need to cool the charge to make it as efficient as possible. An intercooler wouldn't work in a F-body application due to height constraints. I'd look at meth, or nitrous.

Im going to go that route for the intake. If I intercool it, would an intercooler work if it was placed behind the bumper like people do for turbo set ups?

Air to air won't work. You'd be looking at an air to water setup like a stock 03-04 Cobra.

Ive been doing alot of research, and this L67 complete swap, looks like something way more then I want to take on at the moment, but it is doable. Now Im thinking about doing just the top swap.

Top swap is the same thing. Replacing the short block is the easy part.
