  • Remote Drive for the L67 M90...

What would happen...if we disconnected the Intake manifold on an L67 motor and turned it 180 so the throttle body would be facing the front of the motor and turbine / pulley toward the firewall, and had a remote drive connect to the front of the motor... like in this photo...

    http://images.corvettefever.com/tech...percharger.jpg

Thats not the actual S/C but would the concept work? and would the original pulley be too far back and hit the firewall???

If you did it that way the supercharger would spin backwards.

I.E. blowing air OUT of the intake?

Would there be any way to reverse that?

No. The SC in your picture has reverse rotation because of the rear drive issue. All rear drive SC are built this way.

        2 points for trying.

Thanks for the points, I might need to inquire for some bonus points for the extra effort here...

What do you think of this idea... A casing built with an external pulley which is driven by the drive belt, that contains two INTERNAL gears... Gear 1 is connected to the pulley and driven by the drive belt, Gear 2 is connected to the shaft that extends back to the Super Charger... By physics, when you have two gears grinding against each other, one gear is going to be forced to turn the opposite direction, in this case, the second gear will be driven by the first gear and be turned BACK into the direction the M90 needs to spin...

The gears will be contained in a housing filled with Rear end oil or grease...

          Here's a photo of what I mean...

          http://i55.tinypic.com/jtaw0k.png

The actual size of the gears and the housing could vary... but would this concept work?

Sounds like a bigger loss of HP than a centrifugal made for a RWD 3.8l.

Like the Holden Aussie M90 RWD S/C? I would like to try one, but would it clear the firewall?

Edit: Oh, you mean like Powerdyne... Problem is, they are VERY hard to find and brackets are hard to come by.

So you would think it would be more cost effective to FABRICATE a different drive for an M90?

Materials wise, WAY less... labor wise? Not sure.

But the problem with the Powerdyne isn't costs... its availability...

Re: Remote Drive for the L67 M90...

This has me thinking, If your fabbing ub drive gears and a remote pulley, why not have the remote pulley drive a gear which in turn spins a different gear that drives the impeller?

Therefore, Chop the "front" (drive pulley) off the M90, place it on the "back" (side with the TB) attached to a shaft that spins a gear. Then that gear turns another gear which spins the impeller.

Definitely alot of labor to create but it should work

If only Cartuning were paying me per post, then I might be able to afford an 8.8 before I destroy my 10 bolt in may. (Probably, it's been a champ so far though)
