  • I have a friend who can cut, wield, and swap engines - HIGHLY considering an L67 swap

I am almost certain this is the way I want to go, I have a few questions though.

I know the intake has to be cut and a new pipe to be wielded on, but what about the thermostat housing? Also, how do you get coolant hoses to the back of the engine on the passenger side where the thermostat housing will be?

Also what about the coolant passage for the throttle body in the LIM? How do you accommodate for that?

IF I go through with this project, later on, I will get a Tubular K-Member and add a intercooler / pulley.

Too much work for not enough gain.

Yeah, if you're going to engine swap, why not just go right for an LS1?

Alot of people dont think its worth it. I have an L67 sitting in my shop minus the SC, and I was going to do the swap, but it looked to be more work then what I wanted to get into at this time. If your going to do it, I would recommend going tubular k asap so you can get an intercooler on there, you will make more power with it then with out it. But if you have all the resources and know what your getting into, I say go for it man. Also if your over on FTV6 there is a ton of threads on this and will answer any questions you have.

LS1 is going to cost around $3.5k to swap because of all the miscellanious parts that have to go with it. L67's will literally bolt right in, with the only problem being you have to cut the intake, and reroute some hoses... I need some money left over because college is coming up and I have to move cross country to go there (My car doesnt run as it is). L67's can be had for $800 ... If I'm doing all the labor, friend not charging for cutting and wielding, then asside from some misc stuff, then it shouldnt cost much more than $1k...

I honestly would rather have an LS1 in my car than anything else, it's just I'm out of time and my resources are a bit limited.

Yeah, it IS pretty in depth. I'm a little hesitant on it as well... I've been to FTV6, saw Merlins and Jared's threads. Jared's seemed pretty promising till it blew up...but I dont think it was because the S/C, sounded like a faulty build on the engine side.

Unfortunately the tubular K will have to wait / aswell as the intercooler. I'm only going to run stock boost. Not looking for a road racer right now, just want it to crank and I see this as an opportunity to get a decently quick car, and back on the road.

Here's my advice, get the stock car running perfectly if you're short on money. Modified cars will nickel and dime you to death. Then mod properly when you have the money to do it properly.
