  • Awsome day

first of all the title of this thread is complete BS. First thing this morning my powerdyne began to make the infamous winding sound. Pulled it off and well lets just say it doesnt spin very quietly. I am assuming it needs new bearings. Does anyone have any info on installing new ones without getting bent over? also my pulley seems to have a little play in it, i believe the key is messed up.

Second in taking off the PD i found out the A/c bracket is broken  doess anyone on here have one that i can pick up?

All you PD guys your info if needed and greatly appreciated.

this setup probably has around 5-6K miles on it. Im thinking the ac bracket breaking haad something to do with the bearings going out.

Can you get me the bearing numbers? Ive got a contact at bearing headquarters I have been working with for replacment bearings. Also if you have acess to an arbor press you can install them yourself.

I've also got some upgraded bearing numbers listed on my laptop. I'll post up links and numbers when I get home later.

ebay sells them too for different type of rebuild kits:

I say either let superchargerrebuild in texas or 928 do them just to be safe

              Re: Awsome day

I got the PD pulled apart within a matter of a couple hours and Ive never pulled a blower apart before. These things are stupid easy to get apart. I think I will definatley put them back in myself. The only one that was making any noise was the bottom most one on the impellar shaft side. I didnt even bother taking the other two off. And Pace It would be awsome if you could post or PM me a link to the upgraded bearings, thanks.

Here's what I had saved. Probably the same as what some of the more common sellers offer, but at a few more sources.

                http://www.stattama.com/index.cfm?id...owse&pageid=43

                http://www.performancebearing.com/dragracing.html

I had these part numbers saved. I think they're the same as those that Steve posted a couple years ago.

                SKF 6202-2RSTNH/HC53WT
                Korea KBC 6202Z
                SKF 6202-2RSH/C36JN

drswilms2 is a seller on Ebay that also posts up both standard and ceramic rebuild kits with instructions at a reasonable price. I don't see anything currently, but you could try checking back later or sending him a request.

Personally, I think either of those options are better than 928 Motorsports or even Supercharger Rebuilds. Nothing against them, but these are common replacement parts for the Powerdyne and it's best to know how to do it yourself and save the money.

Yes , I found the ceramics when I had my 928 rebuild and had to rebuild it again myself so I wrote down the bearings and found I think bearing works who would sell them.

                    Re: Awsome day

Thank you very much for the sources pace. As for superchargerrebuilds, he seems like a pretty cool honest guy, but im still not buying his bearings. As for 928 I have heard horror stories about thier bearings on BMW forums and I will try my best to stray away from 928.
I have found that the 6202-2rs crosses to autopart stores 202FF timken, federal mogal, or SKF. They are about 15.99 a peice, for that price I think I will give them a try. If they dont work out I will buy the ceramics from stattama HP.
I also talked to Bearingworks today and they have labeled a bearing for the PD and are now charging 80 a peice.

                      Re: Awsome day

The only place I had a good expierence with was Superchargerrebbuilds.com he sent me a new shaft I bought off him and gave me alot of info on doing the stuff myself, after 928 messed my PD up. The ceramic bearings are worth the money, just do the rebuild yourself since its super easy to do once you get it apart and see how it works.

Thats good, aslong as you have instructions on pulling it apart and together you'll be fine.
