  • Was just pondering ideas to reduce beltslip on CentrifIgual S/C's

I was just kind of wondering about this, not that I intend to try it but it has been on my mind to ask this...

The main problem is that the only free pulley drives on the back of the belt and doesn't get enough grip. I've heard even replacing it with a ribbed pulley and going with a longer belt, helps but still doesn't completely eliminate the problem. So I'm guessing it's a location problem.

    Now here's my question.

The L67's have a dual belt. One for all the accessories, and the other primarily for the S/C, and so the crank pulley has a dual belt rib...if you get what I mean.

My question is, if you snagged a crank pulley from a GTP and then had an altogether different bracket fabbed to mount the S/C off on its own and spaced out in front of the stock accessories, would you be able to achieve less belt slip and would such an idea be feasible for those wishing to eliminate belt slip? Custom Brackets and L67 Crank Pulley?

The thing is the PD runs clockwise (i think, I have to check it again). You would have to turn it around. Or, you could go to 928 and buy the counterclockwise impeller.

Even so you still have to move the SC forward, but the radiator fan would be in a way, unless you go with a single one or move it down.

Pathogen did this for her Procharger setup back in the day. But she also deleted AC and made a huge bracket for the pulley and tensioner. I'm not sure which centrifigal SC you have in mind when asking about this... but going with a dual belt crank pulley is going to make fitting room between the supercharger pulley and the radiator fans slim. Not to mention you have to make sure the rotation of the supercharger and crank pulley match, along with setting up a good tensioner.

If you're going with the traditional BD11A Powerdyne, then a slotted pulley and Powerwrap should be plenty to keep slippage at a minimum.

Several of these ideas have been brought up before. Search and you will find the answer to some of your ideas.

Yes, but Jenn has the reverse impeller on hers.

Vortech, Paxton, ATI all can have reverse impeller. Since Powerdyne is out of business it is a good thing that 928 made one.

I can see it being possible to do a double belt on this SC, but the JohnD wrap and Greenglow's pulley groove work well.
