PD bearings

So this is the second time the bearings have gone bad, I just replaced them past june. The blower locked up on me while I was on the interstate. I guess I should have replaced of them the first time with ceramics and not steel. I'm assuming it is the input shaft bearings that have gone bad this time. ans hopefully there isn't any other damage, besides maybe a belt

Steele probably heats up too easily.

I have ceramic bearing and gates kevlar belt and it's been great so far.

I'm going to wait till my blower take a dump and go for the super rebuild by 928 along with their impeller.

928 has a really bad rep, I will never get them to rebuild my PD. It's too easy just to do it yourself anyway

what pulley are you running? Or how many PSI?

definitely get the upgraded bearings.

Im running the 6lb pulley but i usually see 8-10 depending on what the weather is like. I think im going to get the bearings from stattmas they are like 30 dollars, ceramic of course, might replace the belt with kevlar while im at it. I hope the ******* shaft isnt bent

what bearings are you guys running? SKF? SCrebuilds (which I beleive is an SKF )? 928 (i really dont want to go with them)?

928 also uses SKF. Superchargerrebuild can sell ones too.

I notice that the prices on these bearings have gone up tremendously. I remember buying mine for 160$ which included Kevlar belt. I bought it from a guy in Texas who sells them thru. ebay. I notice he's not there anymore.

Well the stock partnumber is 6202-2RSTNH/HC5C3WT
Which has 6 = deep groove ball bearing
2 = width / height series
02 = bore size of 15mm
2RS(H) = two contact seals
TNH = Injection molded cage of glass fiber reinforced polyetheretherketone (PEEK), rolling element centered
HC5 = ceramic rolling elements
C3 = greater than normal clearance
WT = special grease fill for temperature range -40C to 160C

I have also found on the beamer forum that a acceptable replacement for the powerdyne is a bearing that they found at Kaman Aerospace with a part number of
6202-2RSH/C3GJN
2RSH- tow contace seals
C3-greater than normal clearance
GJN-temperature range –30 to +150 °C


both stock and the one above are supposed to be quality SKF bearings.

I have found multiple bearings on VXB that are ceramic/streal hybrids, however I will need to call for the rpm and heat ranges.

PEWTER02CAMARO-that would be awsome if you could find something similar since they seem to either be disapearing or going WAY up in price

Don't you worry your little head, daddy pewter gonna take care of it, LOL.
On a serious note my buddy works for bearing headquartes, and is also an Fbody enthusiest. I'm gonna give him a cal tomorrow, should have no issue getting a custom spec bearing that meets the requirments for the job. Will keep you guys posted.

Also i need part numbers and specs for both the large and small bearings.

I am going to see about getting a tighter fitting belt as well. the tooth jumping problems are usually related to belt stretch and improper sizing. We run identical material belts in industrial high speed application and they last forever.

Graymans site says they are a 6205zz for like $15 which means it is probably steel. I would probably prefer a ceramic steel hybrid. However a hybrid is not a necessity as long as it is rated for maybe 25,000rpm and high heat(just to be safe).

As for the belts that would be awsome. I havent had any problems with my belt but I have heard horror stories from others.
