that sucks... replace it with the 928 impellar, and the belt/bearings im getting info on. Talked with my guy just a bit ago and things are lookin hella good as far as factory sealed high rpm replacments.Daily: '02 Black Yukon Denali

So this is the carnage done to my powerdyne because of ONE bearing. It is the same bearing I replaced last time (the innper most impeller shaft bearing) As you can see the bearing leaked grease, overheated, locked upthe entire unit and allowed the impeller to hit the housing. In addition to all of this it got so hot that it welded itself to the impeller shaft.
I will be taking the shaft to the ship yard to see if it is salvageable. I will also attempt to polish most of the gouges out of the scroll.

Obviously the impellar is wasted, the volute looks salvagable I.E. Resurfacing.
The output shaft has some scuffing on it but loofs like it may be salvagable as well.
As far as the reason for the failure, your holding it in your hand. A steel ball bearing with steel balls and steel cage does not have the ability to withstand the amount of RPM's that the ceramics with the rienforced polyamide resin cages can take. Your standard Bearing, what you have in your hand there is only good to about 26000 RPM. Ceramics are the only way to get as precise as this application requires due to heat and speed. Heat = equals material expansion = tolorance changes = not your friend
I should have info on the replacements here shortly, as well as a corbon rienforced belt possiby.
On a side not can you take a picture of the other part of the case on the side that the bearings press into. i took mine apart last night and i noticed something that looks like it shouldnt be there, but want to confirm.

yea I can get you a pic probably later today. And I think im going to get one of the double sided belts and run that. But if it doesnt work out like I want it to then yes I will more than likely want you to cross cut that B.
The only reason the double side wouldnt work is because of our smooth WP pulley. However some cobras and VR6's run that way so I think im going to try it.

So got a call from my buddy today, I am able to get all four bearings and a brand new kevlar belt for 205 dollars. The 6205's are a standard bearing because nothing more is needed. The 6202's are a very high precision ceramic bearing with rienforced polyamide resin cages and a high temp 160c grease.
