Saw a post on the other forum talking about remote mount m90s. Looks ALOT easier than the top mount, I may try it next winter. Some pics, food for thought

    3.4GRAPEOFWRATH- his 3.4 remote m90 setup

I guess it would work, but most of them are pretty ugly and dont look much easier than just welding in a U bend.

That 3.4 looks nice, coulda intercooled it. Thats really the only benefit of remote mounting.

Well.for starters it really isn't necessary to start out with gtp heads, injectors, or even a complete motor for that fact. Seems it may be a bit cheaper

Exactly. If you mount it remotley you are going to have to fab up a hell of a lot more parts for it, mounting brackets being the first thing that comes to mind. I would never waste my time with a remote mount on a 3.8, not when they are desinged to "bolt on".

I would stick with a bolt on, no need for a remote unit like already said.

Ook understandable but what if you wanted to go with a sc besides the m90. Such as a m112? Remote would allow you to intercool or install something that isn't such a heat pump like the m90

As far as i know the M112 is the same style blower except its bigger.

If your trying to get away from the powerdyne , go with a vortech or procharger. You will have to still make your own braketry but you will be better off in the long run going centrifical.

                Stealing my threads!

I can't see it being that much work to be honest with you...make a bracket and esentially run your piping? I think making the bracket would be the hardest, and at that I don't think its that difficult...make it out of wood, then get some 1/4inch steel, trace out your template, buy 50 or so discs for your angle grinder, a case of beer....and probably about 4-6 hours later you have your bracket?

Piping should be able to be run quiet easily and bought through a parts store (few universal kits maybe)

You can probably even nab a thunderbird intercooler for cheap, toss it on the front of the car, run your piping from the s/c to it, then to the tb...

I dunno, am I missing some steps somewhere? M90's are cheap...I bet you could do this entire project for under 500$ if you already had your tuning equipment and injectors done.

Yezzir, as for the procharger or vortech, the headunits are expensive. Probably about 6 times that of a decent m90

beer is a vital part of the fabrication process :D

You would have the have a plate for the bottem/outlet that is machined flat for a gasket mating surface. you still have to have a 180 degree bend on the intake side, etc... And to top it off no matter how hard you try it will look goofy as hell.

i really want to do this. but not gonna scrap my turbo setup for it... i think its genius and if u don't have to go the 50 cutting disc route... ie using plasma cutter... makes it tons easier and theres definitely some shock value to it.

Any pics of how the bracket was made to hold that thing?

I know this was already done by several people on their 2.8-3.4, but I haven't seen anyone with a 3.8 do it to theirs. I figure there's a lot of issues with the room.
