On a forced induction 3.8 L36 with no knock. How much horsepower can the motor handle. What's the highest out there? I know the trans and rear end are weaker links. I just wanna know what's been been achieved.

Re: How much can a stock motor handle
From memory, some have done over 400whp but I don't know of any too close to 500whp on theirs. Everything has to be done just right and maintained properly to do it reliably.
I think Teufel Hunden is in the 400whp range on his GT37R powered car on daily driven boost levels with stock motor.
You eventually get to the point where the oil system isn't up to the task of the way higher than stock power output, clearances get too close with high boost on stock bearings and eventually something gives away.
EDIT: Need to make a correction.
His car is running a GT40R Turbo, Methanol Injection, T56, 469rwhp, 586rwtq @ 17psi

Re: How much can a stock motor handle
Viper (Andrew) had 556rwhp at 16psi if I remember correctly. But his engine was far from stock.
Linx had over 600rwhp on his 3.8 and ofcourse HighHp had over 800rwhp.
On a stock engine I think 400rwhp was the highest.

pretty dang close to 500, i'd like to build a l67 but don't want to mess with it until i have to. but if the oil supply is the weak link i'm not sure if its really any better of a motor, obviously compression and forged pistons are helpful.
