I got rid of my 7th injector set up and will be fabricating a 12 injector intake for my turbo 3500 intake. The stock 6 injectors will remain in the original location and 6 will be mounted in the plenum pointed right at the intake runners. I can keep my SMT6 tuner to control the added injectors, since the SMT6 will support up to a maximum 6 injectors. Pictured is my drilling template I will be using to keep all the holes spaced evenly.
Cool idea, what size injectors do you plan to run?
08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine
It has pros and cons. It's much easier to tune, there's no tuning problems with idle and cold start up as with bigger injectors. All I need to tune is for when I am in boost. The stock tune and emissions is still the same, no need to be concerned at inspection time. I can upgrade to larger injectors without removing the plenum. Using larger injectors is less complicated installing and removing and the stock location is better.
Here's the injectors mounted in the plenum. Next I need to work on the fuel rails.
I also deleted the egr mount and straightened out the neck of the plenum, which normally turns to the left.
After drilling all the pilot holes I used a pilot counterbore to finish the job.
Careful attention to squareness and depth checking when using my dewalt milling machine.
