  • Where are the videos?

Hello every one, ozzy here ive been looking at this page for weeks now finally joined. So my question is why is it that every turbo build forum just ends without showing how the car runs after. Its like they all get the car started and they stop posting. I am in the middle of turboing my 99 camaro already have the kit just need more parts. But i keep trying to see these cars run and nothing.

Welcome to the site, I’ve posted a lot on mine, had an ignition problem that set me back among other stuff. Have an oil leak somewhere trying to find worse under boost. I can still drive it, getting about 8 psi but still haven’t opened it up. What does your kit consist of?

Its an ebay turbo, has manifolds intermediate pipe and turbo, im planing on using an ls1 header back y pipe and borla catback. Still need downpipe, exhaust wrap, afr gage, boost gage and other little things. I want to see more videos of the cars being driven and getting i to boost see how they sound while cruising and building boost.

If you’re getting the eBay turbo kit, you’ll have to cut the stock hood or get a new hood to fit it. Also unless you have a tubular K member you’ll have to run the down pipe under the engine if doing a 3” down pipe. Don’t know how much diameter pipe you can fit with the stock k member. But if can that’s cool. Good luck.

I may run a 2.5” pipe in the mean time until i figure out the k member. Ive only seen one v6 k member is that the one i can use? I know the ls1 has a turbo specific k member which definitely has more room to work with

2.5” should work with the stock K member I think. Mines a PA racing tubular k member, don’t know if they still make them. UMI performance or Spohn might have them. My biggest problem was the hood, My Gt35R turbo was about 1/2” bigger than the eBay turbo and didn’t fit. And another guy on here used the eBay turbo and he had to cut the metal support on the hood to make it fit. Messed with the fitment of the hood , you could tell when the hood was closed it was off center. You are also going to need bigger injectors and bigger fuel pump, and tunning software, like Hptuners.

Im going to start with 5psi then move to 10. Slowly for sure, i have experience with hp tuners tuned a few ls cars and trucks. Just the v6 computer is different im going to have to learn about it. I was thinking of doing an all motor build first but i did that with the ls1 then 3 camaro i had and i realized even fully built I’ll probably be a little faster than an ls1 which still is kinda quick by today’s standards but then i wouldnt have more other than boost, ill post my build when i start it. I was thinking of cutting intermediate pipe and flip the turbo upside down for better clearance but idk if anyone has tried that

Once you max the maf, you’ll have to use a mini-afc to add fuel, it’s at ZZP. I should have a video of my Camaro idling with the turbo. Should be in a thread where I started my turbo build. About 5 years ago.
