I changed out the fuel pump on my 99 convert last week. Just to let everyone know that has a drop top that plans on doing a fuel pump change through the trunk......it's not towards the middle of the car, like on the hatch camaro's. It's more towards the rear of the car, where the trunk slopes down towards the bottom of the car. I made a HUGE mistake by trying to locate the pump by looking through small holes I drilled in the sheet metal. Around the middle of the trunk area, there is a cap with a hard plastic line that goes to the tank pressure valve......drilled right through it. And just so you all learn from my mistake, it's not a cheap fix either. According to local service shops, that pressure cap comes complete with a new tank, pump, and sending unit. So, unless you're willing to spend $1,700+ DON'T do what I did. Luckily I was able to patch it with a small piece of fuel line and JB weld. Also, changing the pump on a V-6 is apparently different than a V-8. The Walbro fit right in the stock housing with slight modifications. So basically, the only thing changed out is the pump and the lines. The connectors matched right up, but the only problem is there isn't much clearance between the main pump supply hose and a smaller line right beside it. On the bright side....the pumps performance is awesome and it's rather quiet...unlike what I've heard from others who've replaced a stock pump with a Walbro.
Anyway, just a little FYI for you all.
