• FTForce.com V6 Supercharger

Hi everyone, I just registered on your board and I think it rocks. I live here in FL, and I own a 1999 3.8 camaro. I want the supercharger from this company, ft force auto. My friend ordered his last week, and got it installed today. (well it took 3 days in the shop) That thing FLYS now. He also has a set of headers. (But he hasn't put them on yet). Will headers be needed on a supercharged car? How about highflow cats? The guys at this company i have talked to seem pretty down and don't push me to buy anything, but they did reccomend that I get those pieces (headers, highflow cat , jet programmer) to make even more power. I just want to make sure it's a good idea. I would like to be as fast as a camaro ss.

    Thanks !

Any exhaust work is good for a supercharger.

That is the powerdyne kit. It is only capable of about 6 psi before the belt slips. Thats what I have heard. If I was going to buy a supercharger I would buy the ATI procharger kit that is in beta testing right now. It should be out by next year.

Although alot of people like the powerdyne, and alot of people dont like the powerdyne because it cant run lots of boost. I would wait for ATI.

oh and 1 more thing, there is a link on the top right of this web page that says "search" click on it and search for powerdyne. There have been so many posts about this already and im sure you can find some good info if you do a search.

I bought my kit from ft force and had a good experience buying from them. There was a delay in shipping so they gave me 5% off my next order, which i used to order gauges, and they also helped get me in touch with James who designed the kit. I have spoke with James several times over the phone about the kit and he said he has run the supercharger on cars with stock exhaust. It would be a good idea to get high-flow cat/muffler/headers but according to james these kits should have no problem running on the stock exhaust system.

if you keep the stock exhaust, you'll make a lot of low-end torque and fairly goot high-end horsepower. you'll see much more torque than hp though because the stock exhaust is pretty restrictive being 2.25" and non-mandrel bent for the cat-back as well as the cat. having a 2.25" outlet. I'd do at least a 3" cat-back and bigger outlet cat. Why 3", because you're puching a lot more air through the engine and this will move the powerband up to mid-high rpms where you'd make the most power anyways. headers will also get you some hp, but more at higher rpms and you'll maybe lose a little torque on the low-end, but not very much. The jet programmer may be a bit much for 93 octane fuel depending on how the sc kit is set up. I'd wait for Hypertech to come out w/ a HPP3 for your model year V6 and when you order it, tell them you're running a sc on your engine, so they'll custom program it w/ that in mind. This kit is more of a sleeper kit, cuz it doesn't make a lot of gear noise and is only good for low boost levels, 6 psi and below because of belt slippage above 6 psi. If you want more power and better options for your car, wait and get the ATI kit that BATMAN's working on right now.

How much boost does this model put out? Any issues of slippage?

              6PSI

There is a 9 PSI pulley but its has been known to slip. The 6 PSI pulley has had no problems with slipping.

So when running the 6psi that it comes with. Has there been any problems with anything?

What about gains with running 6psi? 20-50hp?

IT CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S ON THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UPS came on thursday, and I went over at the crack of dawn to the shop on friday. I just got home right now from picking the car up. And yes, Superv6bird, you are right it did take a little while to be dleivered. (UPS ships in 1 or 2 daya because i'm only 500 miles away from them) I ordered it right after I posted here. However FT Force was quick to keep me with a heads up on the status of everything. The insurance savings alone pays for this baby. Now hmm - what about that pulley upgrade - heheheheh. I will post pics up soon.

Thanks for responding to my post!

Sweet now it works. Must have been my brower settings, or I had the wrong link saved. Anybody had any problems with this charger?

I was thinking about putting a Ft supercharger on my 2002 RS M5. Does this supercharger cut the engine life in half or hurt the engine in any other way? Some people say yes and some say no. I'm not going to spend all that money if it just breaks everything. And is the power worth the money? Could it keep up with a Z28?
