Belt Dressing + Worn Belt= No Slippage!!!

I put belt dressing on my belt like 3 weeks ago, and it caused the flat side of the belt to get torn to shreds. There is very little rubber left on it- the threads are showing through on most of it. This scared me into buying another belt, but I never put it on, because here's the kicker-

I havent resprayed the belt in 3 weeks, and I still get 8 psi with no slippage. This belt is torn and looking pretty bad on the flat side, but none of the cloth on the inside is damaged, and the ribbed side is in perfect condition.

At first I was pissed because the belt dressing caused my belt to get torn up (I used it every day for 5 days), but I havent had to reapply it or retighten the belt in 3 weeks and I havent seen any slippage yet.

I was going to get a machined pulley, but I havent seen a need for it yet [img]smile.gif[/img]

So now I'm a strong proponent of napa belt dressing!

I went thru 3 gates belt. One of them was shreded so bad no wonder I felt no power.

When I took out the blower, that's when I decided to take the pulley to the shop and had it grooved. Since I was short on cash, I used my first gates belt that was very glazed and no slippage.

Now I'm using gators belt and its even better. Alot less contraction than gates. But if it's working for you, stick with it [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Your once again reinforcing what I beleave about the powerdyne (unless you have a 9 lb pully of course) The system was desighned knowing here would be slippidge, so if you eliminate the slippidge any of our 6lb powerdynes can run 9 psi. Hope it last a LONG time and get us some more track times. I noticed that the longer you hold that type of boost the more the engine just seems to understand whats going on and give you the power. Much smoother experience then back when one day you ran 7 psi, then the next day it slipped to 5 psi then you tighten the sh** out of it and it registers 9 psi for like 3 hours and then slips down to 3 psi 2 days later. My engine just never seemed to know what was going on, thats like a 40 HP differance at any time. Once I HELD THE HIGHER PSI FOR A GOOD WEEK THE ENGINE JUST SEEMED LIKE IT LEARNED.

I agree, I really love the powerdyne. And I know I'm taking a huge risk with this belt! It scares me every day. But, I carry a spare and the tools I would need to change it, so if it breaks, I'll just be 3 hours late to wherever I have to be. Haha. I have to get my pulley machined, but now I can wait a little bit [img]smile.gif[/img]
