i think you might be runnign platinum plugs in your car. that is a bad thng and will cause the motor too do that also. jsut get cheapp assplugs and see how it runs. either that or it is like he said and it is a bad gaskget. is thereany performance difference now that you have expereinced the problem?

I,m running the NGK's now. So the machine un sound is an exhaust leak..... Why would it seem to go away when I removed the outlet pipe from my throttle body? Well I still did here it once or twice very lightly so Im guessing that the extra air from the charger just really PUMPS the sound out. ALright .... Im gonna tighten my exhaust up really good.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......Also- My pyrometer that measures the temp. of my exhaust is reading 1200-1400 with the charger on under boost.... With the outlet pipe off it's reading 1000-1250 degrees........Before I had these problems it would always stay between 800-1000 degrees, rarely ever reaching 1200... Could this also be associated with the exhaust leak.............................................. ...................Xjarajax.....I was just joking man.... Good luck and BTW Im closer to my goal of 14.9 than you are to your PUNY 13.9 Mahahawaaaaaaaaaaaaa he he. GOOD LUCK man and Im sure you'll get it soon. Those things are pumping an average of two seconds off your et so far so you still got a good 6 tenths to go.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

Isn't 1200 about as lean as you are supposed to go? And 1400 is too lean? (I'm just going by memory here....)
If you're running lean with the tube connected, and that's when it makes that sound... then I'm still thinking detonation.
Our Korean friend (I forget his name) toasted his engine not too long ago due to detonation. Last I heard, he was trying to figure out how to hook up a timing retard box.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

I would think the reason that it only makes the sound with the blower hooked up is because the exhaust preasure may only be high enough to make the exhaust leak with the added preasure of the SC.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

I put in a new AIT sensor today and put the outlet pipe back on. Hit the gas and spinned my tires for about 4 seconds (man I love having boost back) I was getting 7 psi and then...... DUN DA DUNNNNNN.... The machine gun started attacking me once again... DA**IT! I also bought a new oil pressure sending unit today so I will replace that tomorrow and let you guys know what happened. I drove the car for atleast 20 runs down the track with that SAME high fuel pressure and only continued to get better and better times............................................. .................................................. ...................So that defiently dosent rule out a fuel problem from running to rich but it dose make me look more at the exhaust now......Especialy since 2 of you say you had the same sound from an exhaust leak.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................Xjarajax, do you still run your car at the track with the machine gun noise? Your not intercooled..HMMMM... Maybe what I read on superchargers online.com is incorrect and being intercooled would help us low boost guys out. It makes since.... You and Shirl are both running about 7 psi (non-intercooled) And you both dropped about 1.4 seconds.....The other two turbos are intercooled and both dropped roughly 2 seconds....HMMMMM................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...............I appreciate everyone's help on this and Ill let you know how it goes after I retighten the exhaust and put on the oil pressure sending unit. If that dosent fix it then it HAS to be the fuel and Ill be asking you guys for some quick fixes on that to. When I ran my times I was misfiring. I never ran when I had the exhaust leak.
I am positive it is where my turbo y pipe attaches to the stock manifolds, causing the noise, creating an exhaust leak, hurting spool time, certainly.

Today I installed the new oil pressure sending unit and tightened up the weakest link in my exhaust, I replaced the AIT sensor yesterday......................................... .................................................. .............RESULTS- The car ran perfect for about one mile, then the machine gun started attacking once again. GOOD NEWS THOUGH- My pyrometer is readind between 800-1000 again. I guess the exhaust tightening fixed that.............................................. .................................................. ..............So what's up with the sound? Also when the car makes the sound you can literaly feel the power going up and down in the car like it's pushing through a barrier. The SES light also starts flashing when the machine gun attacks........................................... .................................................. .............I think Im gonna unhook my fmu and see if the sound comes back. (I hear the sound from my exhaust)When I unhook the FMU ,it will cas the fuel pressure to only go up to 50 fuel pressure vrs the 120 fuel pressure I get now under boost. The charger will still be pumping the same amount of air through the exhaust just running very lean. If the sound dosent come back then it will mean that the sound is from running way to rich. If it dose still come then it must be the exhaust........................................... .................................................. ............Opinions on that theory????Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

Flashing SES light is misfires....... check your coils?AIM: escalier deverre
\'02 Pearl Blue Metallic RSX-S (daily driver)
\'98 Black Firebird
98 V6 turbocharged to 02 LS1 swap
\'02 LS1/4L60E
LS6 Block, LS6 Intake Manifold, Thunder Racing 215/220 .600/.523/115 Cam, Titanium Retainers, Crane Double Valve Springs, 125 shot NX Wet Kit w/ NOS brand Purge, True Dual \"H\" Pipe w/ two chambers and dumps, 17x11(rear) and 17x9.5(front) Black Powdercoated ZR1 Replicas on 315 and 275 BFGoodrich Comp T/A\'s (Street)/ET Drags/Skinnies on Weldlites(Track), 3.42/LSD

Well I just unhooked my fmu and took her for a spin. My fuel pressure was a constant 60 and the car still did exactly the same thing. So I guess the fuel being to rich is not the problem........................................... .................................................. .................................................. ...........Xjarajax, you say flashing ses light means misfires..... Why would the light not flash and the machine gun not attack when the charger outlet pipe was not hooked up? But it dose when the pipe is hooked up? The added air from the charger causes the misfires.....?????? Cas My test just proved it's not the fuel.... Im kinda stumped now............................................... .................................................. ................The machine gun sounds like it's coming from the rear of the vehicle.... I will try and tighten that up soon. If it still happens than I will have to let a mechanic figure out my problem for me................................................ .................................................. .................................................. ..........ANY ONE ELSE HAVE ANY OTHER IDEAS BESIDES THE COIL PACK.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)
