turbo/manual setup (tiago, looking in your direction)
turbo/manual setup (tiago, looking in your direction)
maybe it's just popular lore but i've always heard that the T5 was a boat anchor. i have no idea what model # f-body owners have, but the tremec site doesn't list a T5 rated for more than 300 ft-lbs.
that being said, how are people running boost or N2O dealing with their wimpy T5s? any problems so far? i only ask because, well... "we need more power, scotty!"
My clutch crapped out on my first pass down the track.
At 7psi I dynoed at 320tq and I'm running 10psi now and the tranny is holding up. I just upgraded to a spec 3.

The weak link at first is the clutch. The tranny can still only hold so much power. Nobody has found out yet how much that is though to my knowledge.
I really haven't been on the track much. I do have a lot of street miles on the car though. Just rolled over 60k tonight :D I think that's about 12k since the turbo has been on.

yes teh tranny is only rated to 300 ft lbs, although Ive put down 480+ ft lbs through it for a long time, it still lives ;) sorta lol. The centerforce clutch ate the ****. so now Im waiting for a spec 4. Even when the clutch was holding up I didn't see any signs of the tranny not liking much. However I only have about 30 passes at the track at that level of tq. With sticky tires and doing my dumps on the 2 step , thats when it will die sooner or later.
I know its been said many times, but I also say that the clutch can't take it. I'm on my stock clutch, and it starts to slip at about 4 to 5 grand. I'm only running 8 psi.
All gone :(<br />Best ET ever: 14.3 (I think)<br />----------------------------<br />Check out my site for exhaust clips, burnouts, and pictures, and the supercharger throttle body mod.<br /><a href=\"http://www.geocities.com/net_addict/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Click on the Firebird</a>
once tires and a good clutch are added it is tiem to discuss teh synchros. the synchs them selves are not the problem. teh assembly line mentality leaves them with a very poorly machined surface to ride on. that is one of the biggest improvements taht the aftermarket 5spds have over stock.
it makes for a smoother shifting adn longer lasting synch and can handle more power.
I have a centerforce dual friction that I've had in for a while(over 2 years). I just recently got things worked out so I can now run consistant 10psi w/o problems...except now my clutch slips all the time. Go under boost in 4th...slips, 3rd...slips.
So are SPEC clutches better than centerforce? Would I be better replacing my centerforce dual friction or going with a stage 2, or even a stage 3 SPEC?

don't even bother with stage 2, go stage 3, hell Im going stage 4 ;)
Just ordered my Stage 3 from Thunder. Stage 3 is apparently all the X-Pad design nwo, whcih is a streetable carbon-ceramic combo. Woohoo!
Anybody know where I can get a new rear main seal / part number? And what else will I need for the install? It comes with one of the bearings -- teh throw out i think. Do I need a pilot as well?
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
