    OK, those of you that have turbo'd 3.4's, what turbo model are you using? I saw in the archives that "v6maro" has a T-25 turbo?? I did a search for these turbos on Ebay, and found several. The thing is, they say the t25's come off of turbo eclipse cars...is this a big enough turbo for our V6's? If anyone, not just those who have turboed their car, has any suggestions or wisdom to add to this, please do so. If the T25 is big enough, then Im ordering me one and will soon start my turbo buildup.

    Before my plans came to a screeching halt due to a lack of funds, my numbers indicated that a T-25 would be rather small for the 3.4L. My calculations indicated that a turbo with a T4 compressor would work really well.

      it depends on how much psi you plan on running and how quick you want it to spool.. i'd say.. the smaller the turbo, the better...

      if you got one from the eclipse, then with a v6 it should spool up in no time creating boost before 3k rpm. that would be sweet.

      i've got a t-3 turbo in my garage and only plan on 6-9 psi intercooled. so i dont want a huge turbo. and hopefully it will spool up around 2500 to 3000 rpms.

        Yea i really dont care to go into very high boost levels. So basically the one from an eclipse would work, it'd just give more low end power than higher end right?

          Yea, for the most part. I personally think the t-25 is too small. It will make boost quicker but it'll also run out of air flow when you get to top end; it'll make pressure(boost) but it won't necessarily flow enough air(CFM) to properly feed your engine too make considerable power levels. An eclipse engine is a 2 liter isn't it? I'm using a CT-26 from a Supra, which is a 3 liter, which is closer to 3.4. I think it's a good mix btwn boost coming in soon enough and enough air flow for upper rpm ranges. Plus there are upgrades available for them... But if you wanted to properly size a turbo for our engine a t-04 or t03/hybrid would probably be the way to go.

              Hey turbo project,

              I got some questions. OK first of all, I see u mounted the turbo in front of the PS pump. How did you run exhaust up to it? Do u just run the turbo off of the drivers side bank of cylinders?? Second, how do you route the exhoust back out of the turbo and "Y" it in with the exhaust from the other cylinders. Third, how did you do that LT1 throttle body grafting onto the 3.4 intake?? Is it neccesary? I plan on using the same supra turbocharger that you suggested. If you could give me as much information as possible, Id sure appreciate it. Im wanting to get started on this very soon. If you could, just email me at: adam_minier@hotmail.com

                I personally think a T3/T4 hybrid is the best choise. For 6-8psi of boost the T4 compressor can deliver all the airflow both the 3.4 and the 3.8 need at less than 70,000 rpms. That means you can go with a smaller exhaust turbine such as the T3 that will spool really quickly and still get all the boost/airflow you need from idle to redline and even beyond if you so desire.

                  LT1 throttle body is not required. custom work.

                  the supra's ct26 is ok, I work on a couple of supras and notice it runs out of air on top end though.

                  I also think t3/t4 hybrid would be the best choice.

                    Haha, who needs exhaust. And Tiago is right, you either better know your car, or you will get to know the underside of that thing, I know the underside of a damn 3.4 better than my own car...
