are all of the garrett t25 turbo's the same? how much of gain are these small turbos capable of on our 3.8s?

I have one but I don't know if they are all the same. I guess they are. But anyway they are good for up to 15lbs of boost. There is no lag at all with this small turbo. If you could do TT imagine the possibilities!!

if you set it up right, and everything.. turbo is more worth it over supercharger..

as we all know.. superchargers rob power to make power..

        turbo's do not.

i have turbo plans in the near future.. i just gotta save up for the custom job and intercooler. im only gonna run about 9psi. but its gonna be intercooled. im hoping after its all done to be a 12 second turbo'd v6 camaro. i think that is very possible with 9lbs from a intercooled turbo.

Sorry man, I meant to say I have it around and not in my car. Yeah I got this from a DSM motor and it is rated up to 15 psi which is far more than what our cars can handle. With this Turbo there is no lag according to the guys I got it from and it makes a good beginning set up. Then maybe later on you can upgrade to ball bearing type turbo.

Yeah, I agree that Turbo doesn't use power to create power in comparison to SC. But gains you make out weighs the lost. Plus I have Powerdyne and it uses a cog belt and not gears so the pulley spins alot easier. If there is an advantage that PD have among other SC is that there is alot less parasitic lost of hp.

That would be on a DSM though which is like 2L i think? PSI is dependant on displacment and the 3.8 can ingest(sp?) 1.8L more.

The t25 turbos can have different (turbine sizes and exhaust housings) but are generaly the same (on production cars) because of the application of the t25 which is small displacement cars. The dodge T25's (which are everywhere in j-yards hidden behind the engine) have a stud on the exhaust manifold that is off set so you would have to get another exhaust housing or make your manifold have one stud off set aswell. The later is probably eaiser. On certian dodges you can find T3's like on my daytona(2.2L) that should provide a 3.8L w/ about 12-5PSI giver take. I've never seen it done so I can't really be sure but from what I've seen on the dodge it should be reasonable. There is some java program out there on the net that'll give a good idea of what turbos are needed when. You just plug in the displacment and boost you want and it spits out a turbo size.

Hey thor, what part of SoCal are you in? I'd be willing to give you a hand on the turbo project if it's not too far away from Irvine. I plan to do the same to my bird some day if I ever get a garage and wouldn't mind seeing the problems on someone elses car first ;)

Edit: I didn't make clear that I ment a t3 could be built to suport the 12+ psi, a stock dodge or ford t3 would probably be closer to 8 + or - a few PSI

If your smart and get the motor built our cars can handle well over 15 pounds of boost

The 3.8L is 231x cubic inches...a t25 will run out of steam before you even hit 4.5 grand!! yeah you will make boost at idle and low rpms...but at the cost of upper RPMs where it is really needed! Get a hybrid T3/T4 or a T4 with a smaller compressor wheel. If you want to get out of the hole quick then guys with auto trannies will benefit by power braking, this way you can be at positive pressure...a well thought out turbo setup coupled with an electronic boost controller has more potential which far exceeds using mini-me!
