I've heard that the pipes from the current turbo kits go underneath the k-member in the front of the car to reach the intercooler. I was wondering if having an aftermarket K-member would allow more room to put the pipes over the k-member w/o having to remove the A/C. Anyone given this idea any thought?

i thought about doing a tubular K on my car this summer, for the possibility of future turboing.
if i do, ill be sure to take LOTS of pics.
i know it saves a helluva lot of weight from the front end also, and improves geometry.

I think that would add alot of $$$ to the cost of adding a turbo..
if you go look at 12secv6's site he has pics of his installed..-Brad

If you are worried about tube routing for exhaust, www.spintechmufflers.com sells ovular pipes. It is something I am considering, I will be running under the K since I like my AC. I'm not sure about the costs when compared, but it is an alternative if you are concerned about ground clearance.2001 Black Z28 M6
Sprayed, slotted, geared and more~

Has anyone ever looked at the piping done on the LS1 kit from www.quartermileperformance.com (formerly ls1 motorsports). If you click on the link to their turboed Z28 and look thru the pics, there are pics of the turbo kit on an engine, out side of the car. It shows how it's routed from the passenger's side to the driver's side (where the turbo sits) and rounted out. The crossover pipe follows the path of the original y-pipe, under the bell-housing. It also shows how it was routed to the inter-cooler. Very informative and very proffessional.

Depends on how much of a headache you want. You CAN keep your AC, but you will be running exhaust pipe(s) under the K member.2001 Black Z28 M6
Sprayed, slotted, geared and more~

jesus, now that I took a good look at all that, maybe it would be better to just do the k-member, a-arms, and coil-overs all at once. I like the pipe placement between the a-arms like that.
