  • uprgrading psi for powerdyne

First off i would like to say thank you to GrayMan, and MightyThor, i appreciate your replies about my supercharger problems.

But now i have another question. Alright if i up my fuel injectors to a bigger size , would i be able to run 8-10psi off of the blower without upgrading the stock fuel pump..i just replaced my fuel pump not to long ago, and it was a job that i would never look forward to doing again.

And to Grayman, in your reply last time it came off as you were saying, swapping pullies would be an easy job on the powerdyne unit? i installed my blower and its reverse mounted (which all 3.8 liters are i believe)...i can work on almost anything naturally aspirated but i have very limited knowledge on blowers..so if you know any tricks to or easy ways of doing a pulley swap i would greatly appreciate it man.

    Thanx guys
to all the ricers...the mountain dew bottle in my hand has more liters then ur car.<br />\"My baby is built with tools..not chopsticks\"

You would need a pulley puller to remove the pulley from the SC. First I used a small oil filter twister tool to hold the pulley in its place while I did a counter-clockwise with the wrench to remove the bolt. Spray a WD-40 around the mating part of the pulley and just let it sit for a while. Then use the pulley puller to remove it. You can rent this at AutoZone or buy it.

As far is fuel is concern, if you have the FMU you may not need to upgrade to bigger injectors. I would recommend bigger injector if you are going over 12psi.

Once boost comes on and up to 9-10 psi, you can actually rich with the FMU. Upgrade fuel pump maybe necessary just in case stock one doesn't hold up to the demand. Since you have a brand new stock one, you can either get a Kenne Bell Boost A Pump or Inline Pump.

I have an inline fuel pump that I can just give to you. Steve, aka SSM was very kind and generous in giving me his and I just want to return the favor. I was going to put it on my 89. Shipping is on me. Just e-mail me if you want it.

You would still need to buy the hose and electrical connectors for it though. Which should be no problem. Any car store should have them. Just to warn you, it is very noisy. You can lower that a little bit by wrapping a rubber mat around it.

    Good Luck.

remove that pulley just like MT said.
hardest part is getting the blower out of the engine bay...past the AC hoses and radiator fans and stuff. Once the blower is out...just like thor described.

Dont loose the 'key' for the pulley. clean if off and clean the groove on the drive shaft. Don't get oil or wd40 on thenew pulley. Put it on by hand...tap in place with a large socket on the pulley hubb...(rubber mallet)...just enough to get it started on straight. then tight the bolt...hold the pulley with oil filter rench or use channel locks on the pulley hub.

The pullies are real easy to get off. I have used a impact wrech and also a air rachet to get the bolt out and then just use a pulley puller. I switched mine the other day and it took about 15 minutes to take the charger out, replace the pulley and put it back in. Of course I've done it more than a couple of times. As far as the fuel part, I would recommend, go with a walbro intank, hptuners, and 36lb injectors. Far better than using a fmu. At 9-10 psi my fuel gauge was pegged at 100 psi. I think my fuel pressure was around 110 to 120 psi at the rail. It is not to safe to due. Now my fuel preesure is around 70 psi at WOT and the 36lb injectors I bought for $50.00 are working great to supply my fuel. The fmu will work for 9 psi but you will be running rich.
