Did not go the way i thought it would.
The dyno was done at Detroit Speedworks on a Mustang Dyno. Keep in mind the results are WITHOUT BLOWER! its based on the following mods:
MACH PERFORMANCE PCM TUNING
3" BORLA CAT BACK EXHAUST
160 Thermostat
RK SPORT HEADERS
SCC RAM AIR
3.42 GEARS
18" RIMS with 245/40/18 BFGOODRICH GEFORCE Tires
SLP Limited Slip Differential
BMR Handling mods subframe, lower control arms, strut tower brace, pan hard bars (thought i would mention it since it adds weight)
The first pull was done in 3rd Gear... from the looks of it, it hit the limiter again or i am getting so much pinging in the high end that the fuel is being cut off for safety measures...
Anyways i am only getting a max of 169HP and Max Torque of 200 at around 4200-4800 RPMS in 3rd gear...can't remember exactly cause Bill has the dyno results.
The first time i ever did a dyno at speedworks was
before i got the gears changed. I did a dyno with only my ram air/3 inch borla Catback Exhaust and headers oh.. and a 180 thermostat. THat was all...
at that time i had Max 182HP and 188Lbs of Torque.
So from what it looks like, my torque increased which is why i told you guys i could tell a huge difference right from the start, but my HP decreased... NOW... there is one theory as to what is happening. Greg at Detorit Speedworks says it still looks like its hitting the limiter because it maxed out at 110MPH in 3rd Gear
and in Second Gear it maxed out at 4800RPM...
While i was driving the car in normal drive, i know for a fact it went over 110...in fact i buried it past 120... YES i am lucky the car did not loose control and i am lucky i didn't get pulled over, but i had to make sure the limiter was off some how. SO... this is my theory... the GM programmer who did the calibration took off the raised the speed and rev limmiter at normal Drive and forgot the other gears... From what Greg saw on the dyno, he agrees... and Bill after seeing the results feels the same. He is calling the programmer to see if he has made any changes.
I also had premium fuel running in the car...and i am using ACDELCO platinum plugs... not sure if that is making a difference either...cause i didn't have the platinums in when i had the first dyno done at speedworks.
I've also noticed that the car has been hesitating a little. Its not throwing any codes, but the last time it did this, it was cause of the plugs/bad coil pack and a burnt wire that burnt against the headers. The one wire that was burnt last time is showing a lil white again which means it being hit by heat pretty bad. I moved it away from the headers and but i know it needs to be replaced
In any case, i ordered some new Taylor wires and some NGK TR6 plugs. Bill said to try the NGK Tr6 since i couldn't find regular/non platinum plugs from AC DELCO for our cars. Bill perfers the AC Delcos, but he says the NGKs are just as good.
I also plan to throw my MSD Dis4 on and see if that makes any difference as well.
SO... in any case we may have to wait for one more tuning to see why i am getting those dyno results.
In the mean time, i am going to have another dyno done on a DynoMax dyno and see if i get different numbers.
Question....when our automatics are on D does it mean its on overdrive? Usually cars with Overdrive have a O around the D. The reason i am asking is because Greg would not dyno my car in D because he said the overdrive would kick in and overwrite my dyno results and through the numbers off. He insisted on running it in 3rd Gear to get a 1:1 ratio. IS this thought process accurate?!?!
