I want to let you guys know you have turned out to be a great bunch.I look forward to bringing
this kit to market. The cat has to go guys.I do
know that I can pass any states test with a proper
program.I dont think that any state says you have
a cat just pass the test. Please let me know if I
am wrong and I can source a high flow.A turbo is
a very clean system if the tune is on the money.
Have you ever watched a big truck leave a traffic
light at first raw deisel smoke pours from the exaust then when it comes up on boost it clears up
.The truck is still burning a hudge amout of fuel
Also if you go to a test you can turn the fuel PSI
way down. But dont boost the car.I will use the stock knock system to set up a knock detector. This
will beep every time the ECU gets knock.I cant say
yet but I think I will be able to kill some timing
with it also this will save alot of motor parts!
Thank,Keith

Basically any shop that builds motors should be able to harden your crank. Wait 4CEFED did you say you can get the pcm programmed? If you could do this on 96-97 3.8 i bet alot of people would be interested please respons thanks.

If this kit will pass a california smog test, I may rethink getting the ATI kit when it comes out eventally. How much psi r u gonna regulate the kit to. I know that even if u run less psi than the ATI kit is running(10 psi), ur kit will make more power cuz it's not drawing off the crank. Also, I dunno if the stock headers would work for a turbo kit. Personally, I hate having excess heat spill out into the engine bay and heat everything up. I like inconel for it heat containing capabilities. for a higher boost level kit, somewhere around 18+ psi(I'm thinking about low compression, 8.0:1 forged pistons), could u come up w/ possibly inconel exhaust valves to take the excess heat, and possibly cast-iron or inconel exhaust manifolds to go w/ the kit? While I'm on the subject of cooling, should I take care of mmy entire cooling system before I think about adding a turbo, since there's gonna be a lot of heat produced from the extra charge air as well as the backpressure at higher rpm's from the turbo to the headers? What I mean by this is a aluminum radiator, low-temp thermostat, lower fan points, ect.

It doesnt really matter how much boost the kit will have initially because unlike a supercharger, a turbo can have the boost adjusted very easy. You can use a $10 boost controller to up the boost as much as you would like as long as you know your fuel can adjust to the change. 3 more days till im BOOSTED

Building a race car? Inconel parts? That should be nice and pricey.

Ok, and for the cat thing... I think federal law is such that you cannot remove a catalytic that was on the car at time of production unless it is damaged. I'm almost positive that you are supposed to run a cat. Whether they car or check in different states is another matter entirely.

You can run usually up to 30 psi safely with most turbos. The problem is in how much the engine can handle.

Inconel headers and exhaust valves? That is a little extreme. Stainless steel headers would work just fine. Inconel are overboard.

I'm lookin at efficiency here. hotter air is less dense and makes less power than colder air. I know that inconel exhaust valves have been used on turbocharged cars before because of the increased exhaust gas temps. aalso, custom headers that have the collector closer to the heads will spool up quicker because of the reduced distance between the engine and turbo. also, cuz inconel doesn't transfer heat very well, the incoming intake charge into the cylinders won't be heated much if inconel exhaust valves r used.

lol too pricy for me right now, gonna stick to nitrous..

as for the cat, im pretty sure you need em on the car during inspection. right now, the emissions program is on hold for a few months. before, they put a mirror under the car to check. thats why cat-less exhauts systems are called "off-road exhausts".

thats the way it is here in Connecticut....

What will the price and availibility on this programmer be? And is it like a Hypertech unit that will also remove the speed limiter, allow for gear and tire size changes, etc?

I would be interested in a turbo kit with at least 6 psi in the $2000 - $2500 range. Having downloadable instructions would be amazing. If the instructions are complete, then we can all see how easy it will be to do for ourselves BEFORE we shell out $2500 only to find out we need to shell out $500 more for a pro to install it because the instructions are crap.
