• i'm confused...can't decide

hey everyone! well i just got rear-ended saturday and suffered some whiplash, so i'm expecting some monetary compensation. my camaro's in the shop right now, and will be out for a while. my rear bumper was gone and ill need a new one. i was shoved into another car so my hood bent in a few inches and my front is all scuffed and scratched.

anyway, since i should be getting some $ (how much do you guys think for such an accident?) so i've been thinking about an FI setup. so far, i got a whisper lid, K&N filter, and the FTRA. I'll also be putting in a zexel LSD and 3.73 gears. my next mod was going to be a borla cat-back.

But for the FI, i'm not sure what to get. I was thinking about the powerdyne kit and getting a greddy intercooler to go with it, but that would run around $4000. So then i was thinking about getting the FFF kit and maybe using a different turbo, which should be about $2500 . I want to get up around 300rwhp.

with the powerdyne, i'd probably go around 7-8 psi, but at what point would i need to modify my engine's internals?

if i went with the FFF, would i need to modify any engine internals?

i know the turbo is more involving than a s/c setup, but if it's a lot more involved then i'll go with the s/c.
i appreciate any positive feedback and advice.

thanks!

It's really up to you. Both of them are Force Induction and both of them will give you great power.

But Turbo puts down better numbers than SC. PD SC is a lot easier to install and without tapping in the oil pan.

There's about 3 Turbos on sale right now and 1 PD SC.

is the FFF kit good though? i know it's a good "starter" turbo kit, but i've heard mixed things about it. how much can i expect to gain with a safe boost like 7 psi?

for the PD S/C, how much can i expect to gain with 6-8 psi intercooled?

then at what point would i need forged internals, a different compression ratio, or any other necessary mods? i want my car to be safe because it still has relatively low mileage (less than 60k). that's my biggest concern because this is my only car, and it's my favorite car.

thanks again

oh and isnt it weird how the turbo kit was/is cheaper than the s/c kit?

It's also weird that almost everyone is selling it after they get it...

As for it being cheaper then a SC...

It was made by a private person and made to be resold in bulk, it wasn't a company building it who genereally charges more money to make and sell it.

hmm...makes me lean towards the s/c kit a little bit

1 person selling wercked the car, one guy bought a corrvette, another guy is saveing for a V8 and i just paid FFF to make me the T-70 kit and trying to get some of my money back out of this one

yeah FFF only make about 100-200 off a kit if hes lucky right now he's -$5000 in the hole cause of the dumb pipe makeers then the pipes finally came 2 months after he made that last kit by hand

oh i see...so maybe i should take a look into the FFF kit after all, but not sure about the turbo that comes with it. it is cheaper and does come with all of the piping, which ive heard is so hard to do with our cars. but back to my other question, at what point would i need to modify my engine's internals?

new question: can i get the FFF kit but just swap the turbo for like a T62-1 or a T70? or is the kit specifically made for the turbo it comes with?

any turbo that fits on the flange will work with the kit... but that dont mean it will work with your set up you have to match the turbo to the motor not the pipes, you biuld the pipes around the turbo

my FFF kit with no turbo is 1600 plus shipping.... can ship in 2 days or less after he gets the money (he need time t pack it lol)

oh well my engine is the L36 3.8L v6, so would it work? i asked Tiago what turbo would help me get to about 350rwhp, and he suggested a t62-1 or t70. since i asked about the fff kit, im assuming that those turbos work with his setup.

with a stock motor, the biggest i would go is a t66 just because a t70 will bolt up doesnt men u should go with the biggest turbo that will fit....there is a thing we like to call turbo lag ;)

hey '94firebird v6, after your post i now have 3 questions:

1)So the t66 would work perfectly with the FFF kit?
2)How much power can i expect to gain with the t66 setup with the FFF kit?
3)At what boost level is the t66 safe to use with a 100% stock engine (motor, same thing:))?

these, of course, aren't just for '94firebirdv6. feel free to chime in!

linxs is runing 5-10 psi on hes car with the t-70, but he maxed the injectors and now the MAF is maxing

the t-70 will not fit on the kit unless you get a different exuast (i think its a t3 flang)
