I've been doing an internship for my mechanical engineering degree at Parker Hannifin. We make braided steel hoses and all sorts of tubing here. I was wondering if anyone ever thought of making a hose based turbo system. We manufacture steel hoses that can have up to a 6" I.D. and can withstand 1500ºF. Plus these hoses have readily available fittings that could be welded onto flanges and the like. Then you could just screw them all together and route them wherever you'd like. Does this sound sensible, or have I just gone crazy?
I would think you could definitely use these for the intake side, as far as the exhaust side I dunno. intake when using an intercooler is the biggie though, I don't think I'd try to make some forward swept headers with this though.
