Here's a link to contour.org's forum. What's interesting is that the high compression/boost didn't clue them in on why they were fragging their pistons...
Just another reason why we've got the best board! ;)

Oh they all think it does something. If you ask them, they will always tell you "Oh that wing made a difference!" they just don't know that the difference it made is actually hurting their performance :D
Why is it whenever I see something involving slapping a bigger engine than what was originally intended I want to do it too? :chewsnails:
Aw man, why do I want one of those rollerskates (Contour) now?

Yeah, the thread was a "sticky" at the top of the forum. Thing is though even back then we knew high compression & boost on pump gas is a "Bad Thing". I can't believe that they have 3.0L's making around 240HP/TQ to the wheels without FI. Those cars only weigh around 2700 lbs too.

I still enjoy looking at the 800hp 2.2L EcoTec engine. Though it isn't very economical anymore, still very interesting. Did around 283hp on stock parts. For those math maniacs that would mean 488hp on a 3.8L, they got up to 350-375 on NOS but as they so quaintly put it We finally made 370-375 hp on nitrous," says Bothwell, "but the engine was really pissed off."

That's funny. Today is actually the first day I have ever heard of an "Iron Duke". I was browsing autotrader and I saw an 84' camaro w/ one in it. "orig 100, 23 still in USA" If it's really pushing 600hp I might say that $20,000 is worth it for the 84'.
