This maybe a stupid question, but what kind of gauges do you have? If there autometer then basiclly they suck. And yes at idle you should be at 0 psi. If i were you id get GREDDY gauges thats what Im gettin. And also if you have an autometer A/F gauge, then get rid of that to cause all that is,is a light show.

...And this is why people pay too much for nothing!! I use autometer and cyberdyne...If your pocket is deep then I guess you can go ahead and buy a GReddy...but I hate to burst your bubble but you are essentially paying for a name...?
THE ORIGINAL 3800SII turbo...NOW SERIES-III
as w68firebird97 said, you should not be seeing any boost readings when you are at idle, or just coasting for that matter. i just recently installed GReddy gauges on my car and it will read below boost until you hit a certain rpm where the turbo will kick in, and you will then get your boost reading. as for not seeing any more than a certain amount of psi when your turbo is spooling, if you said the tb elbow keeps blowing off then you are leaking boost, which would result in a very low/to no boost reading. I know this because I just installed ic piping on my car and had a boost leak and was hitting VERY little boost. Fix the boost leak and then you will get a more accurate reading. As for the autometer gauges, they are alright, yes GReddy is a name, but they do make quality products which is why you pay so much for the name. The boost gauge should be fine, but for air/fuel it is exactly that..... a light show, an EGT gauge or something along those lines would prove to be a lot more effective when figuring out how the car is running (lean/rich)
Take it for what its worth. Good luck with the turbo set up.
ok let me update the post, the issues with the boost gauges and boost controller are solved, as well as the elbow blowing off the TB. My car is at the shop getting the head gaskets replaced. Updates, pics, and dyno are soon to come.

Formulao96 ... keep up the good work. You're pioneering (well, almost) the field ... pictures, install info, tips, advice ... the whole bag is all appreciated. Just as some of the other folks, I'm going to drop a line with pictures (hopefully when more are available) to my main man over at KIS and see what he says.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
