Hey guys, yes I did have to ditch the AC, im sure there is an alternate way, but I chose the most straightforward and easiest way possible. For those who didnt know, I am running a stock 86/87 Grand National turbo. I left the stock manifold on the drivers side for now, and I probably wont change it until I want to go all out and rebuild my engine. It is a pain in the *** changing the plugs, but the guys who put the thing together made me a special tool to change the plugs, If ig et shorty plugs then I do not think I will have a problem at all changing the plugs. As far as the oil filter, it is in plain sight, and nothing is blocking its way. If you guys want answers, then keep shooting me questions thats what im here for. Still waiting for my car back :(

LOL!! Ok so you caught me :D ...I was experimenting with graphite sheets...I basically had to use the stock cover for a mock up...
The car is an '88 chevrolet beretta GTU...yes the one rumored to take over the Fbody back in the days...The louvers are indeed from a Z34, the engine from a buick...and the hairdrier from well another buick...lol!
Moral of the story...the 3800 can be turbocharged on stock internals...and remember guys this is a FWD platform...the tranny is the only weak link...well to a degree it is...

Hey guys, just an update. MY HEADS ARE CRACKED!! That sux. Well I just ordered an engine from a 99 Bird with 32,000 miles on it(100k less than mine) The heads cost almost as much as an engine so I just spent a few hundred extra. Engine delivered to speed shop $490 which is a really good price. It will be here next week. I will keep you guys posted.New Car--- 2000 Trans Am M6--SLP Lid, K7N Filter, 160 degree Thermostat, Loudmouth Exhaust, Smooth bellows, MAF ends, ASP Pulley, 4.10 gears, Y2K Chrome Vette Wheels, 2\" drop.. i shouldn't open my mouth, but i am:
that wasn't smart to run the turbo without a boost gauge OR even more importantly, without tuning. i'm glad you got a good deal on a newer engine, but please don't start that car until you have tuning under your belt.

The only reason I ran the car without a boost gauge was because I had the wastegate flapper partly open, and the boost controller turned down all the way. The heads didnt crack because of the turbo anyway. The car never got hot with the turbo, and I only drove it about 2 hours total with the turbo on, 1 1/2 hours of the time on the highway. The car has 130,000 miles on it, when the turbo went on it merely blew the head gaskets leading to the smoke, leading to me getting them checked out. Everything makes sense now because I was loosing some coolant before, but not enough to make the car smoke. When the car leaves the shop it will have an FMU, and all the gauges will be working correctly, and most likely I will have it dynoed before it leaves there too. I will keep the board posted.
PS: I am keeping the old engine and plan on building it up with some forged internals to run more boost

Sorry to hear that.
I have one question for you, what were you doing for tuning?
If I ever attempted a blower/ nitroused/ turboed/ or cammed v6 f body I wouldn't bother with our stock computer. I would switch over to a dfi system.
It just makes tuning sooo much easier.
Whatever is left of your old engine take lots of pics. Take lots of pics of everything.
I'll give you a lot of credit for attempting this project. Hell, anyone who attempts something that is not the norm (prop's to batman and his shop also).
Best of luck with the continued work.

hey formula, i was wondering if you could help me out, and anyone else on this board... i bought a 93 3.4 turbo from only1chance, anyone remember him? well, i bought the car from him, and i'm considering taking out the turbo and putting it into my 98 3.8 M5, for a couple reasons... one, the 93 is an automatic. two, it has over 150,000 miles on it. his car looks better, big hood, spoiler, 315/35's on the back, custom speaker box for 3 12's that replace the back seats... it's an awesome car, but i think i'm gonna end up stripping it and restoring it to stock and selling it to someone else. anyway, if i decide to take the turbo, i'm pretty sure it will only take minor fabs to make it fit on the 3.8... i've only looked at it for a second, but i didn't see any problems. the problems i am looking forward to are air/fuel mixture (i don't have a cat now, and with no O2, my car doesn't run right), gauges (were removed when the car was sold to me), and basically tuning. there's a shop out here, but they're known for overcharging, and being in the military, it's paycheck to paycheck just to pay the bills. so, the good thing is, the turbo is already set up complete with blow off valve and intercooler. i will have to remove my a/c, but it already doesn't work, so no big deal. i'm also looking for a set of tubular manifolds from a 99+ 3.8, or did i hear correctly that the manifolds from an old regal would do the trick? also, what should i do for plugs and plug wires, and should i save up for the msd ignition? what was this computer that i heard about replaces the pcm? how much? i have a big project ahead of me, but i'm already off to a great start being as i already bought everything assembled. also, how much boost should i run continuously, and how much can i run at the track? any help from anyone would be helpful, please email me at crawforda008@hawaii.rr.com with comments/suggestions... thanks yet again1998 Camaro 3.8 M5

How come your head gasket blew? Do turbos blow head gaskets when the boost is turned up? I'm still learning very much about these beautiful things All gone :(<br />Best ET ever: 14.3 (I think)<br />----------------------------<br />Check out my site for exhaust clips, burnouts, and pictures, and the supercharger throttle body mod.<br /><a href=\"http://www.geocities.com/net_addict/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Click on the Firebird</a>
