  • Powerdyne peeps.. I think I just had a great idea!

OK so, as we all know the "better" way to run a blower is on a sepertate belt..

now.. the way i see it.. I have found all the materials i need to make a new spacers weather it needs to be longer or shorter..

    and here is the idea..

run the blower off of a GTP's main pully??

I can probably find one for cheep.. that or get that new fancy one from zzp.. then just route the second belt directly to the blower.. this will also let you run a 8 ribbed pully and belt..

    sounds sick to me..

and ideas/advice before I persue it more..

rofl..here is an update on the install.. I am gunna test fit the blower one more time this weekend.. and get my new pipes done.. getting them ceramic coated too, just for kicks..

today i took some time to polish all my new hardware and the supercharger it self.. that stuff is gunna be pimmped

It sounds like a good idea but it is seriously a lot easier tojust do the JohnDpowerrap and call it a day.

There areplenty of us running 8-13 pounds on the powerdyne with 0 slippidge with the powerwrap and custom grooved pullies. This mod only ost 125 dollars and seriously eliminates slippidge.

Thats why JohnD was able to run a 13.6 when he ran a mid 15 before the blower. Cas hehad The Power Wrap.

Your idea sounds good but I think there is an cheaper version that already has proven performance.

Do you remember back when powerdyne guys were having a hard time holding 5-6 pounds of boost???

Now thats a joke and we hold 10 pounds slip free.

Your mod would be a great way to ensure boost holding at high levels.....But theproblem is that are powerdynes are already being maxed out by many ofus running 10-13 pounds of boost.

Any more oost then that and eighter your engine wont handle it since your non intercooled or the powerdynes bearings will go out on you.

It's really already maxed since it's notreally ment to go past 12 pounds.

With 10 pounds you could e close to 12's....Good luck!!!!!!!

Here's the other problem with the powerdyne in that situation....

They're not available in a reverse rotation.

The reason it works mounted backwards, is because we run it on the flat side of the belt.

If you run it on the ribbed side, and with it turned around backwards, it will spin backwards.

You'd have to figure out some way to still run it on the flat side on the second belt. Or some way to turn it around to run it on the ribbed side.

Would it be possible to use a hydraulics to spin the supercharger? 1:1 Ratio, a more powerfull power steering pump turning a hydraulic motor atached to a supercharger, that would allow you to mount the supercharger where you want, route the pipes to a intercooler then into the intake. Just a idea, thought of it when I read the electric supercharger article.

We ponder on this for awhile. We thought about the dbl. ribbed fr. the vette but Greenglow's grooved and JohnD wrap works great.

I see the ribs working if you move the SC more to the left and run it on the SC instead of he tensioner just like Batman's ATI but issue would be space and redesigning the brackets.

I have a machine shop in town who is willing to work with me but since the groove and wrap works great, I'll let it be.

yeah I kinda stoped persuing the idea..

another issue will be getting air into the blower.. the elbow as it is on mine allready touches the fans.. moce it and inch or two more out and there will be no where for it to go..

i dunno.. it was an "ok" idea.. just not too practical..

                        Pathogen Project - GTP pulley

This kit uses the GTP twin-belt pulley. I have a bracket design that'll work, but wouldn't that make the Powerdyne spin the wrong way? (Template for this bracket can be found here.

That's great illustration. Why not produce some of these brackets and sell them?

So can the ATI be spun in both direction or do you have to let the manufacturer know what you want?

the ATI units can be purcased with a reverse tuning design..

                            unlike the powerdynes..

and as said above the powerdynes only come in one direction.. so.. the powerdyes are SOL regardless.. the only way to make any reibbed setup work with a PD is to rotate the blower 180 degrees and make a new mounting setup all together.. which i definalty dont have the time to attempt..

Would there be enough room to mount the Powerdyne where the alternator usually sits, and then move the alternator to a new spot, perhaps using it as an idler pully for the Powerdyne? Maybe the alternator can be mounted backwards, with the pulley facing the engine. You could then run the alternator off the flat side of the belt, using the greenglow-grooved-pulley so it spins the right way.
