  • best turbo/super charger for....

2000 firebird? 3.8 liter v6...would be nice if someone had links to low end/mid end/high end super/turbo chargers...whatever puts out most hp...

  • #2
that alittle hard to answer cause i dont think anyone has done any of those with a stock car so its alittle hard to compair. Tiago's turbo kit is a good way to go with that side and the RKsport powerdyne kit is good along with a ATI Procharger kit for an LT1 w/ some changes is good too.

it all depends on how extreme you want to go with your set-up. I personally like turbos better because they don't take hardly any power from the motor and are capable of producing alot of boost. but a stock motor can only handle about 10psi with stock internals. so again its basically how much boost you want to run.

You aren't gonna be running around with 114 oct gas on a normal basis though, especially with gas prices like they are. The 91 oct numbers are probably more the norm for the kit. I want one, but money doesnt grow on trees :(

Strange to see how 1 psi can make so much more power from 6 to 7 but from 7 to 13 and race gas it produces about the same increase. I dunno maybe it's just me...

So you wouldn't run above ____ psi on 94 octane?

first of all teh 255 rwhp 290 rwtq numers were at ~5 psi. Also on teh 7 psi run that netted 290 something rwhp and only 300 tq , the tq was so low because believe it or not they ran out of gas on the dyno during that run. Yes when they shut down the car, it would not run any more ahahhaa. After a fresh fill a second 7 psi run netted 294 rwhp and 360 rwtq, noticee the tq increase with fuel. Same problem happened on the 15 psi run when they locked up the injectors the tq is probably low to what it could be under good fueling.

you can run 12 psi on 93 octane. Depends on tune, in the heat of the summer you would need some spark retard maybe but during winter, no problem. Cold air ownz.

So with a rebuilt motor, forged internals, 5 angle valve, turbo cam etc... and 15-18psi, you'd have to run higher than 94, except perhaps in winter? :D

maybe not if you dropped your compression

you rebuild the engine with low CR and you can run 18 psi on 93 no problem.
