Where Do I get a Supercharger Or a turbocharger for a 3.8l??
Hey I have a 1997 Camaro Rs 3.8L 5 speed anniversairy, Where can I find a supercharger for it and where is the best one you can buy for it or a turbo charger, I hurd the Supercharger will blow up the 3.8L because it wasn't made to handle all the boost so would a turbo charger be better well someone get back to me with some idea's on what I should do and where to get the kits...
Thanks Alot
Dan
I'm asking $2000. A brand new kit is nearly 4 g's. There's a thread in the for sale section. I'm selling because I want to get an SRT-4. Time for something new.
A super charger (can) put a reat deal of extra stress on the crank as compared to a stock N/A engine or even an engine modified with a turbo.
A SC builds boost imediatly so (basical, to make a short story) maybe you can imagine how adding additional horse power 'all at once' could be more stressfull.
We have only 6-9 psi options available, however. They all start off as 6 psi but can be upgraded (by you) to 9 psi or a little more. A 6 psi blower is not a crank buster...expecially not are very cool, we are lucky to have a 6 banger so nice and sturdely built as the Series II 3800, beefy little sixer. Somebody may be misleading you about the 'qualities' of our quality 3800 series II engine.
The more research you do the better prepared you will be. do lots of searches here, don't forget to set the seach options back by months and even years to get more and more topic hits. You should also check out the websites of our members here. Some of them might just be 'what they did' to their cars and some of them are 'how they did' it to their cars.
