I've never seen an official 'new' kit, my Powerdyne was used and only included the mounting hardware and bracket. The 'ignition' you refer to with the new kits I thought was a module that retards the timing and is selectable. I don't have the module in my installation. On my 2002 the factory programmed rev limiter controls how high the engine can rev, I don't believe this will change at all by adding the supercharger. As far as the 'sound' my high frequency hearing is pretty bad but I do detect a high pitch turbine sound/whistle from time to time, the Powerdyne is fairly quiet. As far as prep, a free flowing exhaust does help with a supercharger, also you may want to install a boost gauge and maybe a fuel pressure gauge.

I'm running Accel 24's. They're about 10% bigger than stock. I put them in when I was running the big dry nitrous shots. Left them in when I switched over to the Powerdyne.
If I run over 10psi, the injectors start maxing out around 5500rpms. It will hit 12-13psi at the top of 2nd gear, if the belt is tight... So I leave it just a little bit looser.
Best thing is to monitor your pulsewidths (autotap, etc.) and see where you're at. If you upgrade the injectors, it will run rich at idle without tuning. That's why I only stepped up to 24's and not bigger.
