how reliable is your turbo kit?

10W30 is a better turbo oil, in Bell's opinion. I'd never anything much thicker than that, synthetic or not.

Would you say the same thing to people taking driving advice from John Force? Or car design advice from Chip Foose? Or Engine building tips from Troy Trepanier? Doubtful. See Russell, there are certain people in this world who are considered authorities in their given areas. Bell is one of these authorities. Not the be all-end all, but still an authority none the less. So rather than being an idiot about it, why don't you explain to everyone why Bell is wrong about the oil?

Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem. i don't have alot of time on my hands until race season is over though

My car has been turbocharged since march-02. It's been through several revisions. Started out w/ an ebay turbo that leaked oil, I rebuilt it myself, then it ran fine after that. Ran without an intercooler then ran a crappy small one. Then last summer I switched to a new aftermarket turbo and intercooler.
In it's current revision it's very reliable. I drive it everyday boosting 10psi. And my motor has 219,000 miles...
I'd say the most important things in having a reliable system at least IMO are:
new turbo, do plumbing right(no short cuts or it'll leak), metal intake pipes w/ silicone connections, and take the stress/weight off the turbo pipes or eventually they'll crack. At least those were problem areas that I eventually worked out.

Also a standalone ECU and wideband help the situation too! [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]
