Somone got me thinking about goin turbo on this bad boy. After doing some work, I think Im gonna go with a Garret Hybrid T3/T4 Turbo, Intercooler, and 3'' Exhaust.
What kind of numbers do you think this might produce on both stock and forged internals?
I think that the general consensus is that with around 9 psig of intercooled boost, you will see about a 50% increase in power. That would take you to almost 300 HP, with about 240-250 at the wheels assuming 20% drivetrain loss. At around 14.7 psig of boost, your engine will be digusting twice as much air as NA at 100% efficiency and the same temperature. This is taking 14.7 psia. It seems that 8-9#'s is about what our factory fuel system can hold, and God knows what the upper limit of the mechanical parts is. But overall, HP is a function of mass air flow. The more mass of air your engine can take in, the higher the power.
psig: Gauge pressure in lb/in^2
psia: Absolute pressure in lb/in^2
Forgings just allow you to beat 'em up more. They don't make more power, they allow it.
