  • Is it a good idea to remove the MAF screen for FI?

I know this was discussed a long time ago. But the people who commented didn't have Turbo or SC. Now that we have more in this category do you guys think it is a good idea?

I had mine off but I couldn't stand the rough idling and I know with it on it helps to smooth out the air flow. So I put it back on. But I'm still debating inside my psyche.

I never noticed any difference with the screen out whether the car was FI or not. If you want to take it out go ahead, but IMO the gains, if any, are negligable.

That's exactly what James at Vector Perf. told me. Especially with FI it is important to leave it on. OK, so I'll just leave mine alone.

take it out, and port the lip in the front of it. that will solve any issues w/ wrong readings.

I never had luck with taking mine out. Everything from rough idle to misfires...mine is in permanantly. It keeps the air straight and it's more beneficial to getting the right air/fuel mixture into the cylinders.

Shirl, I'm glad you posted. Now I'm even more convince in leaving it alone.

Mine is out, nothing noticable either way, maybe its just a placebo mod but shoot, why not?! Everything helps. Plus when I blow through it, the air is definitely restricted before it hits my hand on the other side.
