They are more of a necessity on manual equipped engines...
..."better than another"...well preference, they more or less do the same thing...as long as you are not using an OE unit!!THE ORIGINAL 3800SII turbo...NOW SERIES-III

A bov is a good idea, it will make your turbo last longer.
To have a stock one is better than nothing.
Alot of the after market ones are just over sized, shiney overly loud or color full.
All that does is says look I have a big bov. Kind of like the guys that have 42mm waste gates on 4cyl cars with small turbos.
I have 2 stock RX7 bov's for my car I picked up over here.
Eather wast $100+ on a new one that won't realy do any thing or get some slightly used ones for $20. So now I have a good bit more money for other stuff.
An over sized color full bov isn't going to give you any more hp, but it will eat up your money.
The biggest bov I have seen is 3'' wide but it isn't used on the equipment that way but it could be modified to be one.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700
\'85 3.4L 5-speed
mods: http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4 the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3.
Areo space materal engineer wantabe

Proof it to me Definitively that a BOV helps an automatic transmission or like you say '...extend the life of the blower'?

Grand Nationals didn't even have a bov stock..
the idea is to spare the compressor from surge, but some argue that the new turbos are tougher then their ancestors and don't really need one. Ill just run one for extra insurance and for reasons listed above ;)

different BOVs are good up to different pressure. some can only go up to 20 and some higher....... if you go above what it can hold you could mess up the diaphram.1999 Camaro Silver 5spd
Appearence Mods:
-Clear Corners -Tail Lights off a 93-96 Camaro -Painted Black Calipers w/ Silver Camaro Decal on front ones -Black Camaro Rear Fill Decal -Silver Camaro Front Fill Decal -Painted Silver Interior Pieces -RKSport Shift Knob
Performance Mods:
-Eibach springs -Whisper Lid -Removed MAF screen -Free Ram Air -Trans Am Dual Exhaust -3\" Cutout
Stereo System:
-Eclipse 8v Head Unit -Eclipse 87series 12\' Subs -Rockford Fosgate 800wt amp (subs) -MTX 225wt amp (highs)
AOL IM is jay eub, msn messenger is banks_2003@hotmail.com

would runnin 10psi w/o a BOV destroy your turbo...probably not but whats the point in decreasing the life of it1994 white Firebird M5
Flowmasters, CAI, 3.73s, LSD, coated pacesetters, eibach pro-kit, bilsteins, hurst shifter, JVC stereo, 18\" C5 vette wheels, Kuhmo Ecsta ASX rubber

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/744299

Coming Soon: Turbo!

I have a 5 speed so I know it would be a good idea.
My bov's are good to 20 psi, my friend that I got them from was running just about 20 psi on his rx7 for a few days and he blew his B13 apart.
How dose it mess up the turbo, I think it pushes the frount air/oil seal ring on to the thrust bearing and wares it that way.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700
\'85 3.4L 5-speed
mods: http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4 the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3.
Areo space materal engineer wantabe

AllTheGoodNames, that's a good point about the electronic TB's, I'd agree that those are probably kind of fragile. Better to be safe.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock
