That notch did give you alot of ground clearance. Is the tubular really jsut as high as the top section of the stocker?
I'm not exactly sure how high the tubular member is, it's still not installed. Ground clearance was my only major concern because the roads in CO are listed as some of the worst in the country. We've hit speed bumps at 15 or 20mph and not touched a thing. I might just leave the notch there and not do a tubular k-member and spend the money elsewhere on the car..

oval pipe is your friend.. its not cheep.. but you dont need a whole lot..

that or look in the street section for frame clearence tubes.. thoe could help as well..

IMO nothing the k-memebr is a bad idea..

so running a custom pipe, or better yet a tubed k-memeber and oval/frame pipe is the way to go..

good luck with the rest of that kit.. It looks good..

If i were going to run road course racing or something like that, i'd totally agree with you. Like i said, the notch in the K-Member doesn't sacrfice a big amount of strength, and since this car is never going to see anything but a drag strip fewer than 3 times a year, it's not my biggest concern.

Been reading this site for awhile, this post I just had to respond to...... I've noticed over the past few days some posts have been deleted from this thread..... And all of the posts that have mysteriously disappeared have been the ones that say anything to the effect of Teufel Hunden's kit being better than the FFF kit, or any post having anything negative to say about the FFF kit. Funny, I remember seeing similar things happen in other turbo threads... Funny too that the moderator of this section is also the owner of FFF..... hmm,how convenient.... I see this creating a huge conflict of interest, and am disappointed that people arent allowed to share their opinions.

FWIW, I have viewed the many pics on the FFF website, and was pretty disappointed... Are those the only pictures that have been shown of the 3.8L turbo kit?? Please tell me no, because I cant imagine any V6 owner seeing just those pictures and deciding that what they saw was worth 3000$, or whatever the cost was. The piping that was used was simple muffler shop piping, and the couplers were heavy duty truck radiator hose (I've seen it in truck stores) with hose clamps (25 cents apiece ones) that are extremely prone to blowing off under any pressure. I hope silicon connectors are what comes with the kit, and certainly better clamps... After looking at all those pics under some of the project cars, I noticed in one they were using flexible dryer type hose for the air intake (that was a joke, right? ).. and in another it looks like JB weld or some similar substance was used to seal the up pipe to the flange that bolts to the turbo... And another thing I noticed... in many of the crossover pipe pictures, it seems there is a weld every few inches...it looks like instead of using mandrel bends or even making very slight wide angle bends in the pipe, you just cut up several straight sections to make it fit, and we wont even discuss the welds and what they look like  .

I have seen Teufel Hunden's setup up close, and it is absolutely top notch, the worksmanship is excellent, and the piping is very simple, and very good looking at the same time. And the fact that it actually runs through a full exhaust is awesome (not everybody wants an open downpipe, which I thought sounded obnoxious and intrusive in the teaser video). All mandrel bends, outstanding welds, and otherwise top quality materials to boot (clamps, connectors, etc). And I see this pipe design flowing much better than the FFF kit, because in the FF kit the driver's side exhaust flow just runs into the other pipe at a 90 degree angle, whereas this kit has either side's pipe flow into a nice y pipe.... very smooth flow  And as far as notching the frame, I have seen even turbo V8 f body guys who have notched their frames, and road course race the car with absolutely no problems. Teufel's frame was notched and then plated back up, so I bet it's just as strong, hell maybe even stronger, than it was before... I see no problems arising from that.

And to Tiago, I can assure you that none of your "interesting" designs were used when planning this.. I remember when teufel had the plans drawn up at the shop...... the pictures of your kit were first seen by the fabricator about a month after teufel's car was finished, and honestly, he kind of chuckled when he saw those pics, even after we told him that we thought it was just a prototype.....

I know of 3 posts that were deleted. It seems this thread was only intended to call me out and "see what i got," and only those posts that don't talk about the quality of my kit are allowed.

Yeah, my post will probably get deleted as well :( But I hope not, after all all I'm doing is expressing my opinions about two turbo kits, which is allowed at every other bullitin board I visit

I dont mean to be rude or anything but there are other pictures of the kits peices and the pipes there are mandrel bent. Second tiagos not the only one able to delete things, it seems anything i say is also deleted because perhaps i like to be open minded. anyways you dont have to accuse tiago of deleted threads and put his products down, the post u just made SHOULD be deleted because its is putting down a kit that is not as bad as you guys make it out to be. Teufels is also of quality and im not puttin either down. But there is no reason for you to come in here and b*tch about delted threads and accuse others of what your not even certian

                            Have a nice day

I dunno... I have never been all that impressed with tiagos setup as well.. it makes desent power.. but the kit definatly need some finishing work.. like better couplers.. and IMHO the biggest issue is the fact that he dosent use stainless pipe.. expecialy on the intake side..

thats kinda nuts IMO.. thats one of the reasons I dicided to look else where for FI.. I dont want to buy a kit.. and then have to replace 1/2 the hardware and pipes..

U have to admit tho, for its price and output its a good deal. Not to mention personally hes helped me out alot with ?'s and not many kit manufactures are gonna do that.
