  • Powerdyne sc...Does this sound legit??

Okay, I know this does directly deal with Forced Induction, but I need some help and this issue came up in another post under this forum.

Someone was selling a powerdyne sc on ebay for about $1600. He was from the UK. It was there for 5 days and it had 0 bids. I contacted him and asked him a few questions about it and told him I was interested. I offered him $1800 shipped and he agreed. He said that I could purchase it using ebay protection. What is ebay protection?

Someone in another post said he tried twice to buy a sc on ebay from someone in the UK and was nearly ripped off both times. Is there such a thing as ebay protection? Should I tell the guy no thanks and keep looking or is it a legit way to buy it?

The protection isn't much. You can contact ebay and they will try to contact the seller. They will suggest that you go through this 3rd party place that preforms ebay Mediation (sp).

The best thing to do is use paypal through a credit card. If you don't get it paypal will suppend the funds until the issue is resolved, not to mention that you can just call your credit card co and have them stop the payment.

Here's the verdict: the seller is full of SH*T.

I contacted eBay and they dont have anything to do with private sales and transactions, only if you win an item through the auction. They told me specifically that they dont have agents who accept payments for any private sales. I sent all this information along with all the emails to spoof@ebay.com and they confirmed that is was fraud.

Lesson learned: Dont buy things without insurance or paypal. eBay has nothing to do with private sales no matter what the seller says.

          Thanks for your input guys.

Supercharger is gone. I bought it privately through the seller.

well let me put it this way, I'm thinking about buying it. He told me 1,140.00 shiped. But it's like this, On the ebay post he said that he got it from rksports 4 months ago. Then when I emailed him he told me that he bought it last Dec. and never put it on his car. So here I am thinking then why did he say on the very last part of his ebay post that it sounded great. Also someone here pointed out the possable wear mark in the pulley. I asked him about that as well and he just seemed to beat around the bush. So as you can see I'm very leary.. As far as ebay protection, I guess there is such a thing but you have to make the payment using "money gram" I guess it's like western union. I never heared of money gram before, so that's anouther thing that I'm iffy about. after reading some of the posts here I'm leaning on not getting it to me it kinda sounds like the guy is blowing smoke up my a$$.

dont do it its BS. there's a lot of scams going around lately on ebay and autotrader for cars and parts out of the UK. they're all BS. they all want to use this moneygram thing cuz as soon as the money is over there they snatch it and you never see your stuff. i had a guy try that with me once. have was selling a 1994 supra non-turbo with full body kit, wheels, everything really and all he wanted was $5,000. i couldnt believe it so i talked to him through e-mail and it was the same thing. story kept changing and was beating around the bush and wanted to use the money gram thing. i reported it to ebay and they said it was a big issue their having now. good rule of thumb is that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

yea your right. I thought it was a bit odd that it said it sounded great on his car and all but then when I talked to him he said that he didnt even install it. How do you report someone to ebay?
                        anyone here know?

Hey man I went through this already about the very same seller. EBAY CONFIRMED IT AS FRAUD!!! I have notified eBay about it already and am taking the necessary steps with it legally. I recommend that you do the same and push the issue even harder. Forward all emails from the fraudulent seller to spoof@ebay.com and tell them everything that went on in detal.

When I contacted the eBay representative they told me his next step was that he is going to mention a Western Union (or something simliar like Square Trade) which is totally bogus. However, I told him to stick his fake sc up his a$$ before he could mention it.

DONT BUY IT!!! I only tell you this b/c I would hate to see you get ripped off.
