Inodizing a Supercharger pulley?

I have a pulley that I plan on having it grind and grooved to 2.8" or 2.7". This will of course leave the pulley a little thinner and may break or crack under load. But I was wondering if inodizing this pulley would make it stronger?

I have other pullies but they are made out of iron that rust and steele that's heavy. I've always used the aluminum ones because it is much lighter.

I plan on doing this when I take the sys. off for smogging. But I will do it first on my current 2.9 pulley to see what the result look like and how it holds when being ran.

Have you considered powerdercoating it? I believe that will give it more strength.

annodizing, nor powdercoating will help the strength signifigantly. they will just provide a better finish for the most part. either of those coatings are only 1000ths of an inch ( powdercoating a little more so than annodizing. )

if you are worried about structural integrity, you might consider just having a machine shop or welding shop place some welds on it to add some strength back to it. It's not difficult to add more material to it. No more difficult than it is to machine material off of it.

If possible, just have a machine shop turn it out of round aluminum stock and drill the holes and lighten it as required. But Pierced is right. Annodizing basicly stains the surface of the aluminum and powercoating is is like a hard shell of paint.
