  • A few research questions

Ok, so I've been doing research for a while now trying to figure out that "big mod" for my car, i think i have decide on a turbo and while reading I have came up with a few questions for you guys

What is our BSFC (brake specific fuel consumption)?

Is my info correct, do our 3.8Ls have roughly a volumetric efficiency of 80%?

What A/F ratio do you guys run, and can you increase it as the boost increases or is it just a constant?

don't worry ill have more questions for you soon

forced induction A/F ratio...if you hit as high as 12.4 you are going criticaly lean. less than 11 you are getting rich.

An FMU will increase fuel pressure to the injectors by a set ratio that corresponds to boost level. ifyou have a 6 to 1 ratio FMU it will increase PSI to the injectors by 12 if you are hitting 2 psi of boost. At 4 psi of boost the same fmu will increase the fuel pressure by 24 pounds...etc. there are limits to how much pressre the fuel system can take...the hoses, connections as well as locking up the injectors themselves.

once you go turbo you are pretty much looking at new (bigger) injectors, a walbro 255 fuel pump and a wide band o2 sensor and tuning software. turbos reach such high boost it is hard to feed them with an fmu and stay withing the limits of the injectors and fuel system.

I am just a dude with a kit, however. the turbo peeps will be along shortly.

14.7 is stoich, but as you've said on FI, you want to be rich so anything under 14.0 is safe IMO.

i think for the flywheel h/p that ~78% VE is close enough.

stock that probly right.... but with a turbo you can see over 100% in some case's, your fidding the car more air then it can take in. we really don't know what our VE is under boost..... every car will be different

try and run a 11.8, i know my car seems to make best power at 11.8, 12.4 its getting risky and my car don't make power there anyway.
anything uner 11:5 and i start to loose power again :(
