  • Feeding the beast with fuel...

It's down to the final details before piecing everything together and stuffing some boost into this thing.

Fuel delivery is what I'm looking at. With my current build, no boost, I'm maxing my stock 22# injectors badly. I'm looking at running 10 PSI on a Garrett Super60 (.63/.60), and need to get injectors and an FMU. I've searched the forum, but nothing really pertained too much to injectors.

    1. What kind of injectors should I get? Ford Racing/Bosch 42lb or GTP-L67 36lb?
    2. Will I still require an FMU? If so, what ratio, 6:1?
    3. I'm still on my stock fuel pump... should I do an inline pump or a 255LPH in-tank?

Help me out here, I'm so close, and I want this thing ready for May long weekend.

The super 60 is a bit small, in fact i think you could use two super 60's in a twin system. Boost is not all you need to look at you also have to look at how much cfm it pushes. What made you decide to use that as your turbo? Unless you are good with your tuner you will need the FMU (I recomend an 8:1 ) not just the injectors. I would probably put the 42lb injectors in. As for the fuel pump it depends on how much work you want to do and how much noise you can put up with. The in tank will be much quieter but will take more time to install, the inline pump is easy as hell to install but is also louder than anything.

I'm not planning on running incredible amounts of boost, 10 psi is the max I'll go. I like the Super60 because a) I got it for a steal of a deal and b) it's the same one used on the GN 3.8L motors, so at least I know it's an appropriate size for my engine.

I don't mind having a noisy fuel pump, and I know in-tanks are a biiiitch to install unless you cut an access panel (which I've heard from many people to stay far away from doing).

It took me about 10 hours to change a fuel pump the right way without a lift so that is what you will be getting into if you decide to put the in tank in the right way. Since noise isnt a problem with you just get the inline its much, much simpler and with what you are running for a turbo it will be fine. As i said though the amount of boost isnt all to take into acount how many cubic feet per minute it pushes also needs to be taken into acount. A t3/t4 hybrid would be a better option but if you are dead set on the 60 it will work. what size intercooler are you running and where are you puting it?

cutting access panel is no big deal. a cutoff wheel is the best way to do it. cant think of any other tool that would work. Many cars come stock with an access panel in the trunk. GM just forgot to give us one.

(no pro here...but...) I think the GTP injectors might be a bit small for a turbo car. Even though you have limits on how far you want to take the boost it just seems like you would be building in a limitation on the fuel system by going with the gtp injectors.

If your going to be running 10 psi, I would go with larger injectors as suggested, at least 42lbers. I have 36lb injectors right now and I'm running 95% to 100% duty cycle with 10 psi and thats with a Powerdyne. Like suggested before you should go with a Walbro intank and with those two and tuning you shouldn't need a fmu.

Intercooler will be mounted just above the airdam, Tiago's L36 kit style. It's the same size too, a 30x6x3 intercooler.

                  hey ssms5411,
i may have asked this before...

so with your 2.6 pulley you have '8 psi' listed in your sig. that was with the intercooler? anyway, as you just said above you run 10psi. you normaly hit 10 psi with that 2.6 pulley, right?

                    1. for super60 - 36# would be enough, but 42 wouldnt hurt
                    2. either injectors+tune or FMU
                    3. for the fuel pump read this threat

I have the 8lbs listed because thats what it dynoed at last time. I never dynoed with the intercooler because I lost too much boost. I since rebiult it with the racing bearings and the shimming. Also I added methanol injection and timing. Right now its steady at 10 psi and peaks to 11 -12 psi sometimes but thats with the VS cam. Might be different with a stock cam. I'm trying to get the dyno. I still have the 2.25" pulley to try also.
