well man nobody has done a 3.8 turbo here yet so it's kinda hard to get an answer.. if so they would have to be completely custom..-Brad

Conventional headers won't benefit any turbo project unless you mount the turbo in the back of the engine where the headers' collectors are. You'll need to get custom made exhaust manifolds to hook up to the turbo and then go out from the turbo into the rest of the exhaust system.---
-\'95 3.4L M5 Camaro

headers are pretty much irrelevant in a turbo system. more or less, you're looking to make some sort of turbo manifold. IMO, you can make it out of the stock manifolds, with a lot of bending, cutting, and welding, and a few extra pieces, like a cutout exhaust piece, and some piping to sweep it up front, and back to the rear. i'm sure i'll get around to making a diagram for it sometime. just email me if you wanna see the idea2011 Camaro LS 6M, in black.

so the general consensus is that you would go with some sort of manifold and turn the exhaust to the front through the turbo (I'm guessing the general consensus is to go with 1 larger turbo vs 2 smaller ones) then back around and out to the cat.. I see someone loosing their AC to do this. There was some guy that was working on a turbo for the 3.8 but I don't konw what happened to him.-Brad

Basically anything can be done any way you want as long as you have the money. I was told that running reverse custom headers would be the best bet for turboing a 3.8L. I am still in the process of planning my setup. Knowing someone who can do a lot of bending of pipes and such will help a lot too because that is one of the biggest problems.Email: Preki1212@hotmail.com

My idea...get headers for 3.8, mount them upside down, have primaries custom bent into a 2" collector instead of 2.5" or whatever they are for hood clearance. Bada bing Big cam. Big stall. Big nuts.

Idle/Rev Clip.

Don't forget that having the piping coming off the stock manifolds and BACK to the front of the engine will probably be too far. Shorter the better. That's a lot of space to fill up, and you'll end up spooling up to some ridiculously high RPM to get any power.Big cam. Big stall. For the original question posted by mike24, the answer is actually two fold, as was stated if you have the money then by all means get a header if not then the stock ones will have to be modified...the thing with custom headers they actually help in spool up big time especially if and when you start raising boost...the engine breaths way better...The primaries are very important when doing a custom header (FYI)

here are my headers when I did mine you can see the y-pipe, in you guys case (F-body-6)a forward sweeping header or reversed header will be the better option due to clearance and yes the AC lines are definately in the way...THE ORIGINAL 3800SII turbo...NOW SERIES-III

Nocutt,

If you mean the primaries...well it depends on clearance, but that is more forgivable on a turbo setup...as long as it isn't too radical...to avoid reversion!!
